Was this a massive error of judgment tonight or what?
Kieran etc out and Showbiz back in?! I mean seriously?!
The main pleasure of watching BB is that you get to dig in deep and watch how a group of very different people evolves over a nice long period of time.
It's a real story that burns slowly in real time. It's the ultimate show for people watching. And there is no greater subject than people.
All the fireworks and drama and 'crash bang wallop' of BB are all well and good, but they are all short term hits. The real long term pleasure of BB is watching the relationships evolve and the journey of the individuals. You get to know them by spending a decent amount of time with them.
After last year's moody BB, this year's house was much happier; it was all set to be a classic old school house. A summer of watching this particular bunch of HMs was something i was looking forward to as they seemed to work well together in a way i haven't seen in BB for years without it being boring.
But tonight, in the name of 'fun' - the 'massive twist' robbed this year's house of it's flow, lost some major characters who had loads of depth and maturity and spirit. Lost some HMs that were very human and real and it would have been great to watch how this year's group all played out.
Aaron, Kieran, Sarah and Harriet were all natural, strong characters and exactly what BB is about. Getting rid of them all so early like that is a completely massive and gutting loss to this year's series.
I know it's early days but the replacements seem like a disaster.
It feels to me like there was some oak tree growing nicely outside the window but then some bright spark thought it was boring, so they ripped it down and replaced it with a giant shiny metal pole with cheap flashing lights all over it.
I think BB producers have lost sight of the natural human pace and slow-burn pleasure of BB and in the panic of pursuing ratings, they are sacrificing the story of the series for the sake of short-term shock tactics.
It's superficial and to be honest quite deflating and dissapointing. And it stinks of desperation.
I expect there are lots of long term BB fans who are feeling cheated tonight.

Yes.

15/16 housemates with 45 minute HL shows unfortunately wasn't enough time for people to get to know them. Throw in the fact that a lot of that time is taken up with pointless twists and moronic tasks and it just becomes even more difficult to care. Without the live coverage they end up relying on obnoxious, loudmouthed characters who make an immediate impact and cause arguments. But after Helen last year who could want that ever again?

Agreed. It was an astonishingly stupid idea the more I think about it. But that's what this show has become... One desperate stunt after another to drum up interest. What they fail to realise is that all the twists and stunts in the world don't mean a thing if you don't care and they have made it impossible to do so anymore.

Agree completely. The house was a bit boring, but at least it wasn't horrible like last year. It's just around now that it usually starts getting interesting because we've gotten to know everyone and they start to mean something to us. It's stupid. And I didn't even like some of the ones that left, but I'd take them over these new people.

Maybe now the tasks will at least become challenges rather than desperate attempts at poking the bear by revealing what was said behind backs. I absolutely loved how the attempt to rile up Jade and the twins during the time travel task ended with them burying the hatchet.

I feel like they've spent the whole season so far trying to get people to fight with each other. Maybe if they just let things evolve, and have fun, people would enjoy the show more. I'm not particularly happy with who left, but if it had to be out of that 6, the only one I would trade would be Keiran and Danny. Hopefully, they'll send some back at some point.

This season of BB is a disgrace. What happened last night has to be one fo the worst turn of event EVER. I saw so much hate on twitter and I gotta admit taht it felt good to see so many people done with the show (myself included). It was unfair to the viewers and unfair to the housemates who left.

Still in shock that the public decided to keep Chloe and Danny over Kieran, Sarah and the Twins. Chloe and Danny wouldn't have been a loss.

A really good post,it is a pity BB producers don't take on board such views.
Then again Emma indicated in the interviews and on bbbots that nothing was happening, the housemates were too 'nice'.
So this was done to stir things up.
I agree,I have watched BB series ad liked some housemates and not others at the start, however over the weeks I have come to like those I didn't and cool down on those I did.
Just over 2 weeks to do such a cull,is ridiculous.
For those, even on here, who were building up support for Kieran and Sarah for instance, now have those removed.
I think feeling cheated is a good description from you as to this.
its only a game show, its important not to take it too seriously

Yep I completely hate the twist. I felt drained by it all last night actually so no idea how the housemates will be feeling. I don't particularly like the new housemates, the girls seem ok but I hate the lads and I completely hate hate hate the fact Simon is back of he says showbiz one more time I will smash my telly!! I'm gutted at losing Sarah and Kieran they were in my top three housemates they didn't deserve to go, Chloe and Danny should have gone as they haven't brought much to the house. It all just went wrong for me and I'm starting to wonder if I'm actually going to see this series through

Aside from the obvious mess of people being evicted who didn't deserve it and crap replacements coming in, the whole structure of the show was a mess. I found it difficult to watch/take in as a BB fan so I'd dread to think how the casual viewer was processing all that, and dread even more how the HMs coped with the night

Obviously it's not as serious as all our real life events.
But you watch BB for months on end and get really involved. It's good to take it seriously, that's part of the experience.
Lots of long term faithful BB fans, who are passionate about the show are feeling robbed by this extreme and ridiculous twist.

I give it probably, ooooooh... 4 days before another significant plot twist.

But you can only invest time and energy into a show if it has a good cast. I will repeat again like a broken record  this years cast is dreadful.
What is the point in getting irate, if year after year, the producers don't listen, and provide the same wannabe casting. Eventually, people say enough is enough and stop watching, and that has finally happened this year. Its not going to change now I don't think, it will just fizzle out with a bit of drama in twists as it goes.
