Good idea actually. There's no point in being sneaky about carrying a gun. Those who hide them on their person are more than likely not eligible to carry. This makes it more identifiable to who's legally armed from the police's perspective - which is a good thing.

I don't see what allowing those who are legally within their right to carry a gun use a holster over concealing it on their person has to do with Ferguson.

I don't mind seeing police with guns, but seeing members of the public walking around with holstered guns would be somewhat scary.

Because this whole "right to carry a gun" crap is what is making people think they are entitled to use them. In many cases, when it is seriously unnecessary to do so. Ferguson is a prime example of what happens when weapons are passed off as 'security measures' and have too little restrictions on them.

Why would it be scary? If they have a gun in a holster it means they are licensed to do so. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But I guess you're not used to it.

That's not what caused Ferguson. Guns being present had nothing to do with it.

It makes streets way more intimidating to see people armed, and gun crime far more likely. There's also no way of telling which people are licensed to have these guns or not by just passing-by, and also license fraud would become much more serious in this case.

I actually think it's the other way around. People will always carry guns, no matter if they're legal or not. I know people here in England who own guns (not always legally) and who have carried them before. I don't see how someone with a gun in a holster is intimidating. You've obviously been watching too much television and have never been somewhere where you're allowed to carry with a permit, it's not scary at all. I suppose if you lived or spent time there you'd see it differently.
