It was more of a vulgar and disgusting personal attack insinuating that she is a slut and sleeps around. So yes, she can take banter. This wasn't banter, it was an attempt to embarrass and humiliate her - which bullies like to do.

Bullies will only respond to the same treatment/ aggression - which both Chloe and Danny gave.

leave the house. She was entitled to be upset. It was also good to see her at the fore front of some action for once.

I think under normal circumstances Chloe may have taken it as a joke. But what Marc failed to take into account was the fact that she was upset about the others leaving.
At least he went and sorted it out with her afterwards. I still don't like him, but I'm prepared to give him a chance, mainly because he doesn't like Jade. (Or says he doesn't)
