A woman gets life for smothering a guy in a care home who had terminal cancer and said it was a mercy killing. A grandmother and aunt get 8 yrs (Aunt) and 4yrs(gran) for abusing and killing girl age 7,the girl was desperate for water and was beaten over several years .WTF is that all about? Surely there is something wrong with that.

I could not agree more Kaz. Where is the justice for that poor child.

Not sure anyone would disagree Kaz. The difference is that the woman who smothered the man intended to kill him (although she claimed it was a mercy killing), and the disgusting pair who killed that beautiful little girl would have argued that their intent was not to kill. One was found guilty of murder, and the other two of cruelty. They were different crimes. I'm not saying it's right. The two who killed the child would never, ever get out if it was up to me.

Oh yes,I get that now you point it out Livia,,but it seems so bad that a childs life is taken away brutally and hardly any sentence given, I do think it should be a life for a life.

What a tragic case, Kaz. The film of her in the shop asking for water is heart-breaking... and the fact they tortured her for years. And the school had reported her injuries to social workers. How was she left there to die? Poor little thing... it defies belief. I'm a bit surprised it was cruelty and not manslaughter. I could never be a defence barrister.

It truly is Livia, people are so cruel,we also had that baby being dumped in water on FB,I know now why I prefer animals to most humans.I saw the footage of the girl asking for water, disgusting, the people who did that are scum.

What this story lacked was any reasoning behind the abuse, personally I'd say it was a child accused of 'witchcraft' becoming increasingly common. I'm not sure why there was no reference to this trend yet I'd say it was a mix of causing ructions both in the church involved and the community generally.

I fell sure if the little girl was abused because of belief in witchcraft there would have been some mention of it. It has been mentioned many times in other abuse cases, almost always involving Africans. The fact that these women were black doesn't mean a) they're African or b) a belief in witchcraft was involved.

At 3am the following day, Morris sent a text to her twin sister Kerry-Ann Morris in Germany, saying: “sis I’m sorry I’m in shock right now thinking how it could happen but it’s the devils work. Shanay is no longer n so is the rest of my life”.

And you wove a whole story of witchcraft around that sentence?

I personally believe that an accusation of witchcraft could have played a part in the abuse based on that statement yes.

Well, that's a leap.
