View Full Version : Re-watching BB5

Due to the decrease in quality of the current series, Big Brother: Timebomb. I've decided to stop watching Timebomb, and will only tune in on Friday Nights for evictions, special shows, and the final.
Instead, I've decided to take a trip down memory lane and re-visit one of my favourite series. The one that went golden, the amazing 2004 summer series, Big Brother 5.
This is my first time ever re-watching this series properly, since it originally aired eleven years back, in 2004.
Launch Night Rankings:
Favourite
Emma
Chicken Stu
Ahmed
Shell
Victor
Kitten
Michelle
Nadia
Marco
Daniel
Vanessa

So far, I'm liking everyone. I've pretty much just judged them based on their VT's, as we've hardly seen much from them on the live parts.
Another thing that struck me after re-watching this for the first time in eleven years is just how professional the show was back then, compared to nowadays.
It was so simple, yet effective. The way they managed to fit in a House Tour, as well as 12 housemates entering, all in just an hour is fantastic.
There was no messing around. Just a quick VT, leave the car, walk through the crowds, enter the house, small live part, and repeat.
I also love how Big Brother used to open the bedroom towards the end of the launch and the housemates would run in, securing a bed. Do they even do that anymore?
Anyway, an amazing launch. Really brings back memories.
Loved the electric atmosphere and buzz the launch had, and that's just by re-watching it.
Can't wait for the Suitcase Nominations tomorrow.
What's the point in watching Timebomb evictions if you can't even know why the person is being evicted?

BB16 has increased in quality though

I'm keeping up with the forums. They usually tell you everything that's going on without having to watch the show, anyway.
Anyway, this thread isn't about BB16.
Where's the love for BB5, man?
Daniel.

I watched BB3 for the first time, back in September 2013. It was amazing. One of my faves.
I re-watched BB7, in March 2013, and again in February 2014, after CBB13.
I re-watched BB6 for the first time in November 2013.
I re-watched BB2 for the first time, a few months back. In March 2015.
I'm planning on re-watching them all in order. From BB5-BB11. Including CBB, and UBB.
I'm dedicating this summer (BB16 time) to BB5 and CBB3. Hopefully, I will finish both by late July.
Can't wait to re-watch CBB3 for the first time. It's been a decade.

Yeah, Brackie!
Awful winner, though.
Kenzie or Brigitte should've won.

Big brother gives every housemate a diet coke except John "How dare you!" Lmfao
Some people say this is the best CBB.
My favourite CBB is the one with Luisa.
What's everyone's favourite CBB?

I really need to re-watch BB8.
I started re-watching it in May 2014, but only got to Week 2, as BB15 had started. I've never finished it since.
Looking forwards to watching CBB5, again. Interesting to watch the Race Row again, and see if I notice things, I hadn't originally noticed before.

CBB3 was great. But, CBB4 was perfect.
My favourite would be CBB4. It's fantastic. Highly reccomend both CBB3 and CBB4 if you haven't seen them. They're the only top-tier series of CBB, on Channel 4.
CBB13 comes third, for me.

I am watching for the first time BB UK 5 ( I watch one episode at day ) and I would love to know if I think with majority or minority of people
I watch just one episode at day like a real serie otherwise I will lose interest xD.
I have seen day 35 , tomorrow live eviction .:bawling:

I am so sad that Marco is out. I was a fully Harem support, and I was so disappointed to see him gone . I would have rather seen Michelle's walking. This is the second nomset in a row that I strongly dislike ( Daniel and Vanessa created dynamics). Stuart voting Nadia literally killed me cause Jason could have been up -.-.
Anyway the crowd went mad that night literally booing at almost all the Jungle Cats, even if I don't get the Becky's hate.
Now Ahmed wants to be nominated , so next live eviction I guess is gonna be tears again.
BB5 is a great series. Who is your favourite?

So far my overall favourite is Ahmed : i think he is a really complete housemate and i saw different aspects of his personality . My podium is completed by Nadia and Daniel atm. I am on half of the series:everything can change.
I couldn't really stand Dan. I don't like people who try to act the Peacemaker tbh.
And Ahmed was awful! Entertaining and completely unstable, but he was horrible! Couldn't believe he survived as long as he did...

I know that Ahmed was not so popular ahaah, I always root for unpopular housemates ahah.
I wonder if UK was with the Jungle Cats or more with the harem.
I would imagine that one wasn't necessarily more popular than the other... Nadia was extremely popular, as was Michelle, whereas Marco wasn't and with the JCs, Victor was popular and Ahmed wasn't.
Daniel.

Day 37
I literally adored the cow's challenge, it was so funny. I like the psychologist part that they give to show: hearing "Jason is the biggest bitch in the house" literally made me laugh hard.
However in the end of the episode Ahmed, Jason and Victor said they want real women and women borned as male.
I kinda felt bad for Nadia cause she had to hear those comments.

Oh I remember that part when the JCs were discussing transsexuals. Poor Nads :(
What was the cow challenge?

Just noticed this is the thread I made, when I started re-watching BB5 a few months back.
I finished it last week. Wow, I'm surprised by my launch rankings, considering my overall ranking that I did at the end of the series was completely different. Great series, though. It's my 2nd/3rd fave series. I don't dislike anyone in BB5 - everyone brought something to the series.

I agree, such a diverse cast, and everyone such a unique character.
Also, almost everyone was likeable... The only one who I really had negative feelings for was Ahmed.
Somebody said in another thread that BB5 runs out of steam in some places but I disagree... I think it was interesting right to the end, and the last week was great with the surprise eviction, and all the mindgames BB played on the HMs.
Also, the eviction interviews were on point.

I did think it decreased in quality after Victor was evicted. Even moreso, after Michelle left in the final week. But all series are like that towards the final few weeks. It was however still watchable and enjoyable. It ended at the right time too, with a great winner.
I think my favourite part of BB5 would be Weeks 5-8. Those 4 weeks were the most enjoyable for me - everyone contributed something at that point, you had many storylines such as: Becki's Judas Kiss, Michelle and Stuart, Victor and Shell, Ahmed during Bootcamp. Also, great tasks too.
I enjoyed Week 2/3 as well - with the Bedsit and Fight Night. Week 1 was fun. Week 4 was meh - it was still mourning after Fight Night, so not much happened.

True, but of the ones I've seen, I still think it's one of the best for sustaining itself to the end. I agree, brilliant winner. And with Jason as her runner up, it just seemed like a fitting end to BB5.
I can't really remember weeks 1-4 tbh. I watched them last summer, and then gave up, and finished the series around January time.
I do remember Weeks 5-8 being particularly fantastic.
Becki was a great addition, and I loved the simplicity of the Judas Kiss.
The military task and the things that went on that week is probably the best week of BB I've ever seen. Ahmed's military coup is genuinely hilarious.
And then Nadia's iconic Diary Room breakdown over cigarettes.
The Wedding task was such a good idea too. Michelle and her rendition of Pie Jesu :joker:
When was Michelle and Stuart's under-the-table night?? Week 8 right?

Week 1 was so boring : Kitten and her 23332932 attempts to break the rules made me wanna stop the series.
I really didn't nejoy 100 % the series until Emma left and since that happened I am finding BB 5 very interesting

I just week 6 nominations and I can't deny how disappointed am I. Instead of nominating Jason and Victor (easy targets) the majority voted for Ahmed and Becky. I do understand why (one wanted to leave, the other was new), but again I really like this nomset.
How much will it take to get someone that I don't like out from the house ?

Watching day 45 on yt but it let me see just 8 minutes and not the whole 35. Is there a way to watch the full episode ?
And it looks like episode 48 is not avaiable :(

Yeah, I watched that episode a few weeks ago. Just use a proxy and it lets you watch the whole 35 minutes. However, Day 48 has been deleted, so there's no way of viewing that video unfortunately. :bawling:

I am close to the end and I have a question. On day 61 Nadia, Shell, Stu and Dan were sitting in the garden. All of sudden someone outside shout "Nadia is a man" and that made Nadia felt quite upset about it. I still don't know if the other three understood what was said, but I am pretty sure they did.
My question is : Did this event help Nadia to gain even more support and definitely win the game or Nadia was already popular by herself and this shout wasn't important ?
