View Full Version : If one of the straight HM's came out...

Would it actually change your opinion of them?

Happens every year when a straight (usually male) HM doesn't fit the stereotype of how a heterosexual behaves/looks, and to be frank, it's boring now. Isn't one of the good things about BB that we sometimes see people from different backgrounds, who don't conform, and MAYBE... this is a long shot... open our minds a little?

Maybe Joel is secretly gay, maybe Mark is secretly Bi, maybe Emma Willis was secretly cloned from Davina's armpit. I'd only be interested in one of those stories. Joking aside though, I'm genuinely interested to know, if you do care, why? And how would it affect your view of them as a person?

**As a side note, I've met a whole lot of 'straight' people who you would never presume to have gay tendencies but have enjoyed doing very gay things, before anyone starts with "well it's just obvious and I'm only pointing it out". Sexuality isn't as obvious as you think it is, there's something else behind all this and I'd love to know what it is.**

There's a difference between questioning a HM's sexuality and turning against them because of it :joker:

How would it be homophobic to like a housemate for being gay? :suspect:

I understand that, but in my post I'm asking why people would question a HM's sexuality, and what affect the answer would have. It seems like a pointless thing to question to me :conf:

Then what is he saying?

I think I understood that correctly but maybe not then

It does matter to people. Gay men are seen as different to straight men for most females imho and not necessarily due to homophobia. Teeny girlies went off diver Tom Daley in droves when he came out bi and then gay (oobviously theyhad no gaydar), they didn't start to hate him, he just went from being perceived as sexy to being an ideal asexual pet for girls to be f#g hags. For alot of people, secretly believe PC or not gay = anal sex and receiving anal sex I strongly respect and that makes guys less manly to alot of females. And it changes perception of a hm. Despite being a model I don't think many females seriously fancy Aaron.

Gay BB fans keep citing ex Welsh rugby CBB star Gareth Thomas as a masculine 'straight acting' guy, but me and many females found him really camp and obviously gay

That was the guy who said "mens sexuality is strong but womens sexuality is meh, wishy washy"

:joker:

Apparently meaning that lesbians often turn back to straight, but gays usually stay gay

This bloke has no idea!

I meant like it's racist to not like someone because their black and then its homophobic to not like someone because of their sexuality.

I don't understand what the majority of this means, but it's probably not good.

But to answer the OP, no i wouldn't, if Cristian, for example, came out, I'd still find him deathly boring, a persons sexuality doesn't determine how i feel about them.

I might respect him a bit more for not living up to the stereotype the media and current society has created, but i wouldn't necessarily become a fan of his.

I don't understand what the majority of this means, but it's probably not good.

The main thing I took from this is that there a lot of females who would change their opinion of a man for being gay, but that it doesn't necessarily mean they are homophobic, ie. they don't dislike gay people, they just have a different opinion of gay people compared to straight people. It's a really interesting opinion and there probably is some truth to it, if people are really honest.

if girls turn off a heart-throb because he comes out as gay....isn't it because they no longer see him as a sex object? I mean he has to be into them too for the fantasy to work....and he wouldn't be because he's gay. it takes two to tango.

I don't make my decisions on people based on their sexual orientation.
