Marc also denies widespread rumours he was kicked out of the army for steroid abuse, and he and the show's producers maintain he had an honourable discharge after serving four years.

"I've no time for people who do steroids, you're messing with your body and with your life," Marc, from Ballymun, north Dublin, stresses.

"That's someone being jealous. I can't walk down the street without someone saying 'steroid head' because I'm in shape. This takes an awful lot of work and a lot of people don't realise that.

He adds: "I served for four years in the army and I absolutely loved it. I was in the artillery, but I left because it wasn't stimulating enough, educational wise."

Mark did an access course to start a science degree and then he got a job working in a lab in Manchester after two years.

I always suspected steroids were a moot point for him, and I would have wound him up and it's something that would push his buttons. He can dish it out so it would be interesting to see if he would be able to handle some "banter", but I suspect he would go ape.

He's about to become a PHD in chemistry. He's aware of the science behind why steroids are as bad as they are. I'd be rather surprised if he used them. Given his height it's a lot easier for him to appear bulky and he's probably been lifting heavy for over a decade considering the was in the army for four years prior to beginning his undergrad.

What a load of bollox,I will defend him ,my brother is built like Marc but slightly smaller,his arms and thighs aren't so big,but he has muscles,he goes to the Gym everyday,eats well and drinks protein shakes,there is no way he takes steroids and he has also had jealous friends etc,saying he has been on the steroids ,people need to realise ,you can get a fit body without steroids.

He began his undergraduate degree after transferring from the Army. Got a job working in a lab as he studied for his PhD which he recently completed. He also supplemented his income with the reality show and stripping. He's hardly a dropout if he is finished a PhD. He has also managed a media career alongside doing a PhD. Dude is smart.

Eh, very few scientists are like the cast of the big bang theory. I studied science and out of a class of 400 there was maybe 10-20 people who were remotely stereotypical

You have no idea whether your brother uses steroids or not. More to the point, you just said that he trains and eats well, and is "nowhere near as big as Marc." You're actually supporting the idea that Marc is on steroids by pointing out that lifting and eating well by themselves don't usually achieve anything close to those results.

Got to admit when he first emerged from the time bomb machine from his VT I actually thought he was a female to male (FTM) transgendered man. It was his eye brows.:shrug:

Also, to all the people who say he's got a PhD Chemistry so he's to knowledgeable to do to understand effects of steroids, GPs have been struck off for taking steroids so I don't think Marc would be an exception.

I have more of an idea than you do,he has only be doing it a short time,so I presume if he carries on he will get bigger,I've told him to stop as he is big enough,but at the end of the day it's up to him,and I do know he doesn't use steroids,as he's too much of a wuss,I would guess Marc has been doing it for a long time hence his bulk,but what he chooses to do is also up to him.

Nonsense. My ex was a British power lifting champion and was a lot more muscular than Marc. He was competing all the time and had regular blood and urine tests done. They just turn up at your house unexpected and do the tests so there really is no getting away with it. He was still accused by jo public of being on steroids though.

They just turn up at your house unexpected and do the tests so there really is no getting away with it. He was still accused by jo public of being on steroids though.
