Just a rant really, I'm sat in Starbucks next to these two guys having a meeting about producing a TV show. One of them is the one with the idea and the other is an executive type producer person interviewing him. The idea guy has already filmed a pilot and the producer guy has watched it and they're having a follow up meeting. Basically it's a "reality" format and their meeting is all about how they would 'engineer' it better to make certain scenes happen. They've even acknowledged that it's a format that would probably attract people who are faking to get on the show, but agreed that it would be ok to let them on - as long as they could keep up the act lol!
As a reality TV fan it's really sad to hear and it makes me think of the kind of convo's that current BB producers must be having behind the scenes.
I know we all see the manipulation anyway but it's still sad to hear from such a cynical business perspective how these things are made with no regard for authenticity, which is probably the most important thing in reality tv I think.

OMG the producer guy just said that the idea guy would be too old to present it and is past his 'shelf life' - how rude lol! And he'd rather have someone like caroline flack! And guess which channel they think would be most "hungry for the content"...ch5! Says it all really

That's just how modern reality TV works now

"Reality" TV is a manufactured genre these days. In the same way there are "Indie" bands with big labels these days. It's a bit of a misnomer but it's the term used to describe the form of media.
