9th UPDATE, Monday 7:51 AM: Early morning estimates show that we have a new box office champion with Jurassic World, besting The Avengers’ $207.4M from 2012. By all accounts this AM, the Dinosaurs stomped in with a $209M three-day opening, others have it just slightly lower, but they did it. Congrats to Universal and what a wild ride it has been

And then ontop of that.. WW

Dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic World made Hollywood history this weekend after rampaging to a monstrous $511.8m worldwide.

The gargantuan total, the first time a movie has ever opened north of $500m, was helped by a gigantic $204.6m US total and huge $100.8m Chinese bow, as well as $29.6m in the UK. The previous world record opening was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2’s $483.2m bow in 2011.

Amazing :o

Who's seen it? (If you have spoiler your talk please :hee:)

Jurassic World has bitten a huge chunk out of The Avengers' endeavours and knocked Marvel's superhero movie off its perch as the third-highest grossing film of all time.

The sequel to Steven Spielberg's film has now brought in $1.522 billion globally, forcing Iron Man, Captain America et al's $1.520 billion into fourth place.

Expected it to be a bad film and a huge disappointment, but was surprised positively.

Great film, great visual effects, OK acting, fine directing and the script and story are at least passable.

The original is still the best, but it think this claims the second spot for me.
