I believe he has a PhD in Chemistry and yes he is a scientist in Manchester I believe.

He has a masters in Chemistry I think, but he may not necessarily be working in a chemistry based role in his lab job. The lab skills obtained from most science degrees can be applicable to a broad range of various lab positions, it wouldn't always have to be the subject you specialised in as the company will usually train you up the way they want you anyways.

BB has referred to him as a student though.

Possibly, but you can still be student if you already have a first degree, Masters etc. If he's studying again then he becomes a post grad student. I've done it myself after my BA (Hons).

He reminds me of Tim Hunt who just resigned from various bodies over sexist comments about women in a lab!

He might be doing lab based research for a PhD?

Actually I think there was a bit where Joel asked him before if he spoke to his boss like that and Marc said something like "he's not my boss he's my supervisor" so maybe it is a PhD he is working on.

Masters I think but I could be wrong. He mentioned something about having a supervisor before in the lab.

He's got a BSc. The reason he's referred to as a student is because he's not long finished college. He's off to the States towards the end of the year for a job.

You may be correct as PhD students have supervisors. Wonder if he's doing a full time 3 year course or the 6 year part time PhD?

I don't know, I've just read though that he has completed his exams and qualifies with a PhD this October.
I know he was in the army for awhile and may have gone back to college as a mature student but not sure how long his PhD was for.

:clap1:

My thoughts exactly. He just studies science and is graduating in October. He isn't a scientist.

He has some of the periodic table on his leg - therefore he must be a Scientist…I saved 2 stamps off a letter this morning - therefore I am a philatelist - Tomorrow? I will collect some bees from my foxgloves and become an Apiarist…S'easy...

And thus follows. He is a jerk and belittling towards women and is a misogynist.

It's very difficult to find a definitive answer as to what kind of "scientist" he is. He is the complete antithesis of every scientist and student of science I have ever met. My theory is that he's a lab assistant, making sure the test tubes are clean and the Bunsen burners are working.

Me too. I read law for three years towards my BA and I have never practised law nor am I a lawyer.

Probably nearer the truth but he won't be a 'scientist' for too much longer, he will become a Z list celebrity opening night clubs and supermarkets.
