Is having talent a?

Is having Musical talent or not a fact or an opinion?

This is inspired by a debate that me and Marsh had recently, my opinion is that someone that sounds painful to your ears can't be talented to you, while Marsh said that “just because someone isn't to your style they still can be talented and saying otherwise isn't valid.”

It is a fact, it's quite obvious if someone's vocally competent even if you don't like their style. That part is subjective, whether they have talent or not isn't.

yeah, talent is talent... style is subjective...

It's like old people saying rappers aren't talented... or youth of today saying the Beatles had no talent... those are personal opinions about style, but have nothing to do with talent

Like, classical music isn't by and large my thing, but I don't think that all composers are talentless twats. There's a market for them, it's just not me.

Or I don't know, Adele's music is largely depressing and boring for me, so I don't listen to it, but she's clearly a very talented vocalist and songwriter.

I know quite a few people say that they think that Adele is too pitchy though.

Are you saying that they're wrong for having that opinion because most people say that she's talented?

I think that The Beatles, Adele, and some Rappers are talented.

Not all of it is necessarily to my style though.
