Tbh I don't think he's brown nosing, he never felt like he was accepted by the rest of the house which is why (and because) he was kicking off at them all the time and now he has an ally in Helen and to a lesser extent Nikki. I just don't think he's planning ahead very well for when they're gone

He probably does genuinely like her, they are very similar after all, but his over the top "I love Helen wood" when he first met her, asking her to get into bed with him etc. came across as brown nosing to me. Nikki brown noses her too. That's just my opinion.
