Hi there, my name is Riley. I'm new here, obviously. Am I being stupid, but I'm finding these forums hard to navigate around. I also don't seen any buttons to PM people. Can anyone help?

If you click on someone's name and go to public profile, there's an option to 'send message' on the left, click that and then click private message

when you see some one post, click on their name above their avatar, and you will see options to pm them or go to their wall,
some users have restriction on who can pm them though, so you may not see a link for everyone

Click on the username, click on 'send message' and then 'send a private message'. :thumbs:

I know that I have had restrictions of this kind before, and for some people it is with good reason... but once you get to know people, I am sure the restrictions will ease up :thumbs:

well, I can see that your account doesn't allow me to pm you, you must have your settings set up for email instead of personal messaging on the forum...

Go to your own account, and hit the customize profile button located at the top of your wall on the right.

There will be a list of options on the left, choose edit options
Under Messaging and Notifications, in the first box, you may want to de-select allowing users to send you emails, or keep it selected if you choose....

In the third box titled Private Messaging, check the enable private messaging box

Look through the rest of the page and see if there are any other modifications you want to make,

then make sure to scroll to the bottom and and select save changes.... this is the most important, otherwise all was for not !!

and yes, some people have their walls restricted too, so they may be able to post to you, but you will not be able to respond via the wall
