@BBUKLive: 11.04pm: Nikki: "I'm a legend, you never were."
Helen and Nikki are having an argument. #BBUKLive
Now we'll have to wait and see what this argument entails, but do you agree?

In terms of Big Brother, it's pretty much a fact that Nikki Grahame is a legend and is arguably the face of the show.
Superfans can all name C5 era housemates as 'legends' if they wish cause they are in our small circle, but barely anyone else knows them, so yeah, they're not
Jason.

Nikki's in the right.
But let's be honest here, Aisleyne's ****s on both of them.

It's been almost ten years and videos/gifs/vines of Nikki's stint in BB7 are still shared and talked about. She is culturally relevant, and arguably the most famous BB Housemate of all time. The only real comparison is Jade Goody, really.
I'm not a betting man but I very much doubt anyone (outside of Big Brother fans) will care or know who Helen Wood is in eight years.

I'd probably rank the most recognisable housemates, and therefore 'legends' as:
1) Nikki
2) Pete
3) Brian Belo
4) Brian Dowling
And Jade would be first if we're going to include her. But I think that's it, to be honest.

I don't think Pete or Brian Belo should be up there. IMO.
Brian Belo isn't even that memorable. TBH.

Yeah I'm not saying this because I dislike Helen and Love Nikki but Nikki is an actual legend and the face of big brother who so many would be able to name if you asked random people in the street. Helen is not on that level at all. The fact that people keep bringing up "Helen Won" doesn't mean a thing tbh. You don't have to win a series to become a legend. imo C4 housemates will always be better than C5 housemates tbh.

It's not necessarily about who is memorable, just whose name is most associated with the show. If you said Nikki, Pete (especially 'Nikki and Pete') or Brian's name to most people, I think they'd be able to tell you they were on Big Brother.

Legends Hall Of Fame
1. Jade
2. Nikki
3. Nasty Nick
4. Brian Dowling
5. Nadia

I considered putting Nick on the list but 15 years later I don't think many people would know who he is over people like Brian and Pete.
And outside of the Big Brother family I bet of the people who know who Nikki and Jade are, only half of them know Nadia.

Would anyone say Grace is a BB legend? like her eviction is one of the most iconic evictions we have seen imo
Jake.
25-06-2015, 02:14 AM
Grace is remembered, not a 'legend' though because people wouldn't associate the show with her
Daniel.

Grace is a legend imo

And Nikki is a legend, Helen is a vile bully.

Nasty Nick getting booted out of Big Brother was MASSIVE. It was featured on all the news channels and he had to do a press conference with the media and he got treated like a serial killer. Trust me, Nick Bateman made Big Brother.

I think many people would come before Pete, who people would only recognise if the name was coupled with Nikki's.
And Brian Belo is several places down below the likes of Makosi, Nadia, Dowling etc. Even "Nasty Nick" would conjure up memories.

nasty nick nikki and brian dowling are the biggest BB legends of all time.....jade goody was as famous maybe more so but for many bad reasons too , bri belo and and craig phillips was great and gave all his winnings to his disabled sister

Nah, perhaps in Big Brother circles but outside of it I doubt anyone knows who she is

I'm fully aware of how big it was. My point is that 15 years on, I very much doubt he'd be remembered over someone like Brian Belo who had cameo appearances on countless shows post-Big Brother and is much more fresh in people's memories (8 years as compared to almost double that)

I honestly don't, they may need a bit of pushing, i.e. 'the guy with tourettes' but I still think people would know who he was.
I very much doubt anyone remembers who Makosi is, unfortunately. On the rare occasion that someone in real life talks to me about Big Brother and asks me what my favourite series is/who my favourite housemate is and I mention Makosi, every response is 'who?' and even then 'the series before Nikki and Pete with like Anthony, Maxwell, Derek, Kinga etc etc' just provokes a look of confusion. I genuinely think most people's memories of Big Brother doesn't stretch much further back than Big Brother 7, hence why most people remember Nikki and Pete, and why Brian Belo as the series following that is also well known.

Oh actually, I'd put Chantelle on the list too. If only for being in a CBB series she's a very memorable housemate.

Chantelle I agree with.

Define "well known" because it's the people who come after BB7 (and coincidentally after the race row) who are not well known nor remembered in my experience.
I'd say Josie Gibson is the last regular housemate to be put alongside housemates from the first 7 series. Even then it's probably because of the whole 'last ever' series giving the show one last boost in the media spotlight.
As for Nasty Nick, I don't think you would need much of a memory to stretch 15 years ago to remember the daft scandal BB produced over cheating nasty nick. Even if he's not remembered as vividly as Nikki (who let's face it hasn't bogged off for more than 5 minutes at a time) he would still be remembered.

Chantelle I agree with that
It's mad to think she auditioned to be in BB7(personally i couldn't see her in that series tbh) well it's not mad but you know what i mean, I'm too tired to explain

I'd say it stops as BB8, personally. I made a thread the other day about how it feels weird to me that 8 followed 7 and 9 followed 8, I think BB9 is where BBUK truly entered the last phase of its life, it was still relatively popular in BB8.
'Well known' as in if you mentioned their name, or gave a little prompt about their personality, people would know they were from Big Brother. So while people may know who Kate Lawler, Allison Hammond and Sam Pepper are, I bet hardly anyone knows they were in Big Brother. The list I made is people's names who I believe people would most associate with Big Brother, basically the faces of the show.
Nikki comes first (discounting Jade) and then Pete by association and because he was well loved, and then Belo's countless appearances on television shows after Big Brother would have cemented him in the minds of many people as 'that idiot from Big Brother' or something, IMO. Dowling for his media career and as for the other names mentioned in this thread (Makosi, Nadia) I genuinely think they'd only be known by Big Brother fans past and present, not the general population.

The same could be said for other reality shows, we all forget most of the people who ever appeared on Pop Idol/X-Factor etc.

I haven't seen Brian Belo anywhere since BB8.
Maybe it depends on the shows you watch. But apart from a couple of times I recall him popping up on BBLB or BOTS I haven't seen him anywhere. Same with Charley Uchea who a lot on this forum love.
