Actually she is right, particularly for young people. Not everyone is a high earner, or has a rich relative to help them out. I think it is ridiculous to mock her, or put in this ugly twitter
piece for just stating what is a fact of life for a lot of young people.

Tell that to people with a portfolio of properties.
As ambitions go, getting a mortgage is up there with "having kids" and "getting married." It is just a normal part of life.
And to think that "getting a mortgage" compares with Marc getting a university education and becoming a scientist, is laughable.

Nevermind the mortgage, what really bothered me was when Chloe tried to talk to Marc about an education & Marc would not engage her.
She went into the bedroom & Aisleyne followed her inside & they seemed to be of the opinion that an education is unimportant.
John quickly told them they are being hysterical.

Of course it's an achievement. At 24 to have a mortgage and be settled into a home which you own is impressive, especially given the economy that surrounded her taking out the loan. It's a very impressive achievement. Most of her generation is expected to languish in tenancy hell. They can't save for a mortgage because they're paying rent.

Pssst.....if you have just started paying a mortgage, you don't own the home.
Chances are that her dad stumped up the deposit too.
I know 24 year olds who own a business. I know people that age who own their home outright and rent other houses out. And there are plenty of 24 year olds with first class degrees, working towards PhDs.
Paying off a huge loan to own a little house in doncaster is not an achievement.

Well no, the topic at hand is "Is a 24 year old having a mortgage an achievement?" and I'm saying yes it is. The little argument between Chloe and Marc is on her and her brandishing her achievements is no better than him brandishing his. I think she was being tetchy but I still think it's an achievement for a 24 year old to have a mortgage. I'm almost 27 and I don't have one. I'm pretty sure a bank wouldn't give me one either.

Forgive me but if thats the basis of this thread then yeah anything can be an achievement. The guy working the trollies down at asda who has no qualifications is an achievement, anything is an achievement if you base it on the individual. And as its all relative then you cant play one against the other.
So yeah it is an achievement, I took a big dump earlier that was an achievement... of sorts

Her father Edwin Wilburn, 46, below, was jailed for masterminding a £300k plot to flood South Yorkshire with deadly amphetamines.
An insider revealed Chloe, from Doncaster, opened up about the gangster at her final audition for the Channel 5 show.

I don't hate her for it. I disliked her way before she said that for other reasons. But it just struck me as an incredibly small time thing to have as her ambition in life.
It reminded me of an argument that i had many years ago with a troll on the internet. This troll was boasting that she was a nurse and had a "new car every 3 years" and I responded with "enjoy your lease car that you never actually own while I buy mine"
I don't think chloe realises that, outside doncaster, getting a huge loan with awful interest rates to buy an estate ****hole isn't the ambition most people have.

Chloe said this while having a pop at marc for something he said in an argument that had nothing to do with her.
It was all designed to upstage marc and his education. But it looked a bit pitiful really.
Marc never even mentioned her. Yet she has to start bragging about something that most people take for granted.
And I don't believe for a second that she paid for the deposit herself. Where would she obtain circa 20 grand at that age?
Either her drug dealer dad paid for it or she is on one of these government schemes where the deposit is paid for you.

I can't believe how much of a massive deal you're making of this, she didn't say it was her "ambition in life", the only point she was making was that there are achievements in life other than getting an education, and she has had her own. Marc's comment was made to belittle those (particularly Danny) who haven't got an education like he does, and she was trying to justify why she thinks that's stupid.
Dunno why you see the need to compare it with Mark's career. I'm working towards becoming a scientist, yet I'm sitting here in a tiny box room in a shared student flat  A mortgage is looking like a pretty great achievement to me (and probably any other wannabe scientist) right now!

That sort of people revel in their own stupidity.
I am quite well educated and have a large vocabulary. Whenever I come into contact with chavs they try and tell me I am wrong for "using long words."
They revel in ignorance.

I agree with this. I lived with my family through college and university; I believe that education should always come first as it will prepare you for a lot of things in your later life which is what I have learned. Why waste money on a mortgage when you can put it towards a tuition fee?
However, a mortgage is very much a personal achievement and I'd applaud anyone with a mortgage, especially at my age.

Going from personal exPerience, getting the degree is easier than getting a mortgage in this day and age.
My 2 kids have 3 degrees between them and are both paying a fortune in private rent.
Hard to save for a mortgage when you pay over a grand a month rent plus paying off uni debt.
Both Marc and Chloe should be proud of themselves, as long as you do the best you are capable of then hold your head high.

What is wrong with that? It's good that she is not the usual fame seeking idiots that usually fill the house. So true. Its a shame that people are so Jealous of her that they have to be so venomous towards her Marc might have a degree that was free but he will never have any class.

God, what a vile family of chavs.
Looks like they are allergic to hard work and Chloe is no different, putting on a fake thick act to win 150 grand.

Definitely a flop, she barely ever features on the show & boring overall.
BB thought Chloe was some energetic loudmouth who never stops partying.
They were probably suprised when she morphed into being a dry arse who crys when something is said to her.
So disappointed she lasted over some of the HM's who have been evicted.
