He has a very analytic mind and he's always thinking about things. He's not malicious, but no one there understands him. A bit like Aaron used to do.

I really like him and I wouldn't mind him winning but he is manipulative he can often get people thinking the same things as him because he has such a good way with words

He is very manipulative. He leads people down a road in a conversation, and then tries to make them voice an opinion which he then uses against them at a later date.

He is a sneaky slug

uhhh he absolutely is? Like,

"omg I am done with you Joel, you're so patronizing and manipulative"
"no! I just wanted to know if you'd go with the majority if they wanted to eat :smug:"
"well yeah, I wouldn't want to cause conflict in the house"
"WELL THAT JUST PROVES THAT YOU SWAY WITH THE WIND HMMMM NO BACKBONE :smug::smug::smug:"

He's very close to Cristian, but even he doesn't understand that side to his personality.

Hmm well he kinda is during debates, Sam explained it well last night really, when he's asking questions it's like a court interview by a lawyer and he constantly changes the way the question is worded to try tripping people up and getting them to say what he wants them to.

I like him as you know, I don't think he is manipulative in any malicious way,he is a strongly willed and opinionated individual who I would say is more persuasive than manipulative.

I get the comments sometimes from people that Joel gets because after studying politics at Uni,I l look and listen to Joel and can see a lot of the way I am and go around things.

For Joel in there, his interests are not of real interest to most, he cannot get an in depth discussion going on things he would love to talk about, so in much the same way as he would engage,if he was able to talk about he things he wanted to,he does so in general conversation which seems to get their backs up.
For the way he analyses and digs deeper into the reasons for their decisions that they have made, he probably also knows, that they make decisions not their own.

Cristian made a good point to him last night that he goes on and on to much, I am guilty of that too, so I smiled when Cristian said that.
I found it funny last night when he was talking to Sam,he knew she just goes along with a crowd but then can agree with those she at that time did not agree with.
I honestly think Sam hadn't a clue what to say so she walked off too because he had really exposed her true self.

Anyway, here I am now going on and on :joker:, I guess were I in the BB house I would be hated on here since really I am like Joel in a good few ways.
I do analyse almost everything, I will say my opinion and challenge others,(in a fair way), as I like others challenging mine too but I do also, once I get into something, go at it like a dog with a bone ad I know that has irritated even friends in the past.
It is not however being manipulative,I may never change others minds, however neither will I back down from my own position either once I believe I am in the right.

lol all the best spineless sam just copied word for word what chloe said then added the lawyer bit....he was asking a perfectly logical simple question, do you just go with the majority opinion or do you form your own opinions? they all lost their patience and temper and played dumb pretending not to understand the question to try and make joel look bad. why are they always rushing off losing their temper when they have oceans of time?

Despite being so different Cristian and Joel seem to have genuine affection for each other and spend a lot of time chatting. Love their friendship.

Marc has been saying this for weeks that the clique Danny,Cloe,Christian and sometimes Jack was part of a dirty plan to pick other housemates for nomination.Usually they do this by sitting in group bashing one or two housemates giving signals who to nominate.Remember they did this with Simon,Jade and Marc. Now they all gone they are cannibalising one of their own who is Jack and targeting Joel as well(Notice who were in the skyroom bitching and targeting Joel). They are the same cretins consist of DANNY.CLOE AND CHRISTIAN joined by their new member Sam because Joel nominated her.Get Cloe out then Danny and then chritian,Show them we are not fools.

Joel is one dimensional, he knows what it takes to win and he is using his debating skills to create arguments and show others in a bad light. Simple tactic and he does it well. His game playing is pretty easy to see, but it is a game show and if we condone it, then all fair and well, but some of us like a clean fight based on personality and fun.

They do have a really good friendship in there, they can at times not agree without it in any way affecting that friendship.

It is really good to see and I would dare bet both of them have had some really good discussions about each others lives, which would have been interesting for us to look in on as well, which sadly however have never been shown.
Such as the conversations Jasmine pointed out on bbbots as to her and Cristian, again which were never shown.

Oh I think he has been on at least two separate occasions most notably:

'I don't wanna talk about this now I'm drunk. Lets talk in the morning'
'No I want to know what you think'
'Joel please let's talk when I'm sober in the morning'
'No tell me what you want to say'
'Joel I don't want to say anything ill regret now when I'm drunk'
'Sarah, please tell me what you want to say'
'Fine. I think you encourage it...'

Sarah gets evicted

But that's more being stubborn than manipulative.

No he provoked Sarah into giving a response when drunk she never would have made when sober and successfully it made her look bad.

He did the same thing with Sam yesterday in the bedroom. He's so annoying and sly. And yes £100 is a lot of money to some people

He thinks he is, certainly. Being the cleverest person in the room doesn't give you leave to patronise others. He tries to make them look small but it's actually he who ends up looking small.

Not clever enough to know when to stop interrogating and manipulating people therefore getting their backs up. He was one of my favourites but now we are seeing more of him I'm quickly doing a u turn.

I don't think he can make someone look small when he's being told by Danny that he is "malipulative" when he's apparently heard the word for the first time five minutes previously.
Joel is one of the only honest ones in there - I think he would be better letting the politician inside of him quiten a bit but at this stage it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Of course he's the cleverest, that's why he's being outflanked by not so thick Nick!

no he's not...he's not clever at all - he's selfish, devious, and horrible. Learning off ten different sentences to divert attention onto another human being to make yourself try to look clever, is not clever - he can't pull it off. Same with the various 'hand movements' does he spend all day looking at TV and aping policitions with their hand movements and head nods. its cringe not clever.

If you watch you can see his whole persona is modeled on Jeremy Kyle, his questioning technique, poses, facial expression, hand gestures and posture. Did nobody see him practicing in the mirror prior to his "interview" task? It was cringeworthy.

The reason he can't pull it off is because he simply hasn't mastered forensic questioning techniques, because of this his "discussions" descend into argument directly with him, when his design is to create the argument without actually being part of it. That's his failure.

I don't even think he tries to make anyone look small, they do it themselves because of how they go on.

He is naturally inquisitive,he maybe should tone down the 'interrogation and interviewing, however he will be used to that so feels comfortable with it.

I will take how he is any day over Danny with his violent tendencies,Harry with her hysterics, Nick with his little boy lost look but hiding a cold inside to him,Sam who will go from one to the other, agreeing with both while hearing completely different things.
Even now over Chloe with her spitefulness and the way she has been these last few nights.

I agree with you, Joel is one of the most honest in there and he is how he is,I actually think the criticism of him is unfair really.
However that is other perspectives but I see him as a good guy and I still commend what he has set out to do and done in life at only 19 years of age.

Em, not being able to spell doesn't make a person dumb. Einstein couldn't of spelt 'manipulative' either.
