I remember like after Son Of Mask in like 2006? Everyone started clapping at the end of the film and I was like wtf? Doesn't seem to happen much anymore.

It's quite common in American cinemas, they are quite verbal during and after movies, not known it over here though.

In Australia they don't seem to clap (with the exception of film festivals, and the occasional blockbuster), but when I've gone to the cinemas overseas it happens after every film.

No :joker: I find stuff like that really cringing and embarrassing.
It's worse when people clap when the plane lands and the pilot plays a little song into the plane. I actually feel the need to almost kill myself at the point it's that embarrassing for all the passengers

I've never had it in the cinema, weird.
Clapping on planes is embarrassing though. I cringe everytime I fly abroad and people clap and cheer when it lands. It's so ****ing rude, it's the pilots job, he does it multiple times a day... Imagine if we clapped everyone else for doing their job :umm2:
*clap clap* well done NHS nurse for wiping that patients arse, bravo, very well done *clap clap* *cheers*

I've never had it happen, it's quite weird. I could understand clapping a performance or a play since you are showing the production and the actors your appreciation but for a film? what's the point? You show your appreciation by buying a ticket.

It's happened a couple of times, it's embarrassing lol but not as bad as when they clap when a plane lands

It's only happened once, when I was a child and the Sound of Music was the film. Also I remember having to stand while God Save the Queen was played. If you tried to creep out while everyone was standing and singing, everyone stared at you.

This omg :joker:
The plane clapping I can actually understand seeing as it's just a show of appreciation for the pilot having done something that requires a lot of skill and having got you somewhere safely. Clapping in a cinema makes no sense at all because there's nobody there to receive your applause - the actor's will neither know nor care whether you've been clapping or not
