I don't take the DC film reviews that seriously given that most of them big up every Marvel film when there hasn't been a good one since Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus every Marvel film is the same god damn thing over and over again, at least every DC film looks unique.

It's the in thing to hate on DC films. Reviewers complained that BvS was too dark and now they complain that Suicide Squad is too light. BvS had it's issues but it was no worse than most Marvel films.

I disagree, I hated BvS because it was dull not dark and the story was pretty stupid. I'm glad they've humoured this one up a bit though because I think that's what BvS was lacking for me. Also Ant-man is the best Marvel film and that only came out last year :hee:

I thought Ant-Man was atrocious aside from the last fight scene. Boring villain, boring plot line, uninteresting characters.

I never listen to critics. I like most films they dislike.

What's annoying though is that every artist is only drawing Harley. There's other characters you know

Ant-Man only had one memorable scene :fist: If the rest of the film utilized it's potential like the last fight did then I'd have liked it a lot more.

Looking at the list, the only truly good Marvel films are Captain America: The First Avenger, Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Iron Man films are poor on reflection, the Avengers films are ultimately a gimmick, the Thor series is carried by Loki and they've truly run him into the ground at this point and the less said about the Hulk film the better.

Civil War was half a good film but the other half was terrible.

BVS had it's issues, terrible dialogue, poor pacing and JESSIE EISENBERG but I enjoyed it simply because it wasn't another Marvel clone.

I enjoyed ant-man but I agree with the lack of interesting characters... Ant-man himself eas the only half interesting one. Pimm and Kate from Lost were boring, and yeah, the villain was awful. Completely one dimensional.

BvS I will always argue that the action is near flawless. The story is more cohesive in the longer cut, Eisenberg is still crap but at least Luthor's motivations actually make sense in that cut unlike the theatrical.

Plus Batman hitting supes in the face repeatedly as the first dose of kryptonite dust wears off is potentially my favourite 10 seconds of any superhero movie :joker:

Just got back from seeing it. I loved it. I honestly don't get why the reviews are so bad, it's not perfect but it's flaws aren't THAT significant.

Margot Robbie played an amazing Harley, she's been criticised for being too much of a sexualised character but I think that's really selling her short. She's pretty much the heart of the film. Will Smith played a competent Deadshot, it's difficult to see Will Smith as anything other than Will Smith though. Viola Davis IS Amanda Waller, there's not much more to say other than she ****ing NAILED it.

Jared Leto's Joker oozed potential, he's kinda reserved in this film but even then there's so much menace and character that I can't wait to see him unleashed in the Batman solo film.

The problems with the film is that the plot is a bit basic and the main villain (while having a cool J-horror esque design) falls a little flat. The other Suicide Squad characters don't get that much time to shine either. TBH though, I really didn't mind since this was probably the most fun film I've watched in a while. Completely different to BVS and it makes me eager to see the future DC films.

I haven't seen any DC Film yet, but I get what you're saying to some degree.

I just think that it's seen as trendy to bash Superhero Films full stop tbh as a lot of people just don't "get it" which is fair enough, but sometimes these people then make out that they're bad Films and hijack the reviews just because it's not to their personal style.

The same thing happens with Horror Films too, it's seen as cool to bash Horror's and Superhero Films, if you look at it not many of them get critical acclaim either.

One of my friends likes the uncut version as well, he felt like it explained more of the plot away, and that the characters make more sense.

One of the biggest differences is that Lex going from making zero sense (being an almost chaotic character) to making perfect sense. They make it clear that he's been pulling the strings and manipulating all sorts of things for years, for one. Secondly there's a couple of scenes inside the krypton Ian ship that suggest that he's gained some greater knowledge of what's "out there" - or possibly even communicated with / conspired with a powerful DC villain via the ship. His various motivations for destroying Superman (his complicated obsession with the nature of power is gone into in more depth, but also wanting to "clear the way" for aforementioned villain, which was completely missed out in the theatres).

... I could bang on about BvS for days :joker:. Funny really as so many people slate it... It's been one of my favourite action movies in years. Then again, exactly the same is true of "Sucker Punch", so I guess it's just the Snyder effect.

My main concern is that because the public en masse didn't take to it, they'll drastically change the direction of the series

saw it tonight, I loved it, don't get the bad reviews at all. Harley Quinn was amazing, I love that actress actually. It was unusual to see a film with multiple super heros being led by a female super hero, unusual but really great, she even upstaged Will Smith which is no mean feat. I liked the humour they injected into this one too

Oh Arista, don't say stuff you know isn't true.

Films don't live and die on bad reviews, they live on how much money they make.

I don't think Reviews are going to matter when the reception to it is mostly split between bad reviews from the reviewers and good feedback from the audience.

Reviewers can be corrupt anyway.

I'm not even saying it to defend Suicide Squad necessarily as I've not even watched the Film, but there has been scandals in the Film and Video Gaming review committees where a product is getting a higher review than it normally would've got because they've either been given money, or some sort of deal that will help the said reviewer in the future.

Just explain why no Superhero Film has ever be critical acclaimed in the last few years? Even a classic as such as The Dark Knight had some critics try to underscore it.
