The Duke of Edinburgh is known for his embarrassing gaffes so it is no wonder he managed to insult a London community centre group during an official visit today.

Prince Philip asked a group of women 'who do you sponge off?' while visiting Chadwell Heath Community Centre in Dagenham, east London, to mark its official opening.

It comes less than a week after the 94-year-old royal was caught on camera shouting 'just take the ********** picture' during a photocall for the Battle of Britain anniversary.

If you like someone to speak their mind surely it has to be the same rule for everyone. And let's face it, we've had years of Phil only opening his mouth to change feet. I stopped being outraged long ago and find it quite endearing now. When he said that a building looked like it had been "put up by Indians" we all knew he meant cowboys, the silly old sod.

In all seriousness though, I despise the entire concept of "Royalty", and someone who was born privileged and married into further privilege talking about people "sponging", whether they're joking or not, is pretty foul. Whether you're 14, 94 or anywhere between. Age is not or should not be an excuse. Pretty sure we discussed this extensively over the last 2 days on another thread.
