A former Big Brother contestant from North Wales has been chosen as a candidate for Plaid Cymru in next year’s Welsh Assembly elections.
Glyn Wise, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, who finished runner up in the 2006 series of the reality show, has been selected by the Welsh nationalists to contest the Cardiff Central seat.
Since leaving the Big Brother house, Glyn has gone on to become a TV and radio presenter - fronting programmes such as Glyn’s Virgin Voters.
However, the 27-year-old now wants to swap the cameras for the Assembly’s Siambr and believes he can make a difference.
He said: “I look forward to using my experience in reaching out to people across all communities, many of whom have become disillusioned with politics in recent years.
“I intend to use my knowledge of social media and the media generally to promote Plaid Cymru’s message to voters.
“Significant improvements need to be made in our NHS so that patients don’t have to wait so long to see a doctor or have an operation. The current waiting times are unacceptable.
“I come from a working class family in Blaenau Ffestiniog in Gwynedd and strongly believe that Plaid Cymru represents and stands up best for the interests of the working class.”
Plaid has 11 out of 60 Assembly seats. Among its current AMs include former BBC presenter Rhun ap Iorwerth.
At the last Assembly election Cardiff Central was won by Labour
