As for the gulls, what are we killing them with? If it's using the old urban legend, in which feeding a seagull a chip stuffed full of baking soda causes the bird to explode in a shower of blood and feathers (due, apparently, to the highly concentrated stomach acid of gulls) then I have to say... I'm all for it. Do it in city centres at around 2am on a weekend. Spectacular.

No, the gulls are the sound of the seaside...just cover your ruddy food.

I genuinely don't want to sound stupid but... Won't they just build a new nest?

Or are we talking about murdering their children and leaving them for the parent gulls to come home and find?? A horror scene! Guts, beaks and baking soda everywhere??

We want them to stop attacking us, not rise up and kill us all...

Maybe what's called for is a more diplomatic approach. Get these gulls talking, find some common ground.

Well if they were still just eggs in the nest, technically it'd be giving them abortions, I think

I wonder how many people would go out and protest this cull and try and disrupt it if it did happen or if such actions are just reserved for cute furry animals like badgers

There is only one solution. We must immediately have a cull on loose women.

No culling necessary ,humans just need to be cleaner and less greedy, and stop with the littering and over fishing, they are after food that is usually left lying on the ground.

Easy to say "stop feeding them" but Blackpool is my hometown and I don't feed the insane little buggers. The one that divebombed me did it randomly two days in a row, if it does it again, I'll punch the bugger in its beak.

Someone tried that in the 30's/40's, I've read that it didn't go very well. He managed a few but bloody activists kicked off about it.

No.

People should watch their pets instead of letting them go out into the garden on their own in areas that have sea gulls around.

I read about colonies of bats being culled today too and it's honestly heartbreaking.

I don't think it was in the UK, i saw it on tumblr :( so sad though, bats are one of my favourite animals.

I'm not too keen on sea gulls, one attacked my mum at the seaside a couple of years back, but i don't think culling them is right.

26-07-2015, 06:45 PM
Yes. I feel like anyone saying no must not live in an area where they're an overwhelming nuisance though perhaps I'm wrong. I've grown up with these creatures dive bombing people, stealing food out their hands; they work in gangs to knock over bins and get at the food inside; it might not be their fault that we've given them an easy opportunity to feed without any effort but they're a huge problem and need to be taken care of. They don't fear humans.
