View Full Version : Shilpa Can Not Cook

Today she Destroyed a Chicken,
They eat bits of it
Even though she thought putting Orange Juice inside it was correct.
She should have been more Honest and told them she does
not cook.
She ended up Crying in the Garden.
As Shilpa was eating hers
the camera Zoomed in on her
she looked at them all
knowing full well she can not cook.

That is if thay can pronounce her name properly 'Ship-pla!'
Or even try and understand what Danielle is talking about half the time rather than mocking Shilpa's accent (at least we can understand what Shilpa says) :-)
So she messes up one meal in 13 days. Well now she has decided to stop cooking for all, we'll see who pips in.
She was saying she was cooking because while the servant task was going on, all those in the squaller quarter were doing so much work and she felt bad and hence wanted to give them a breather. Thats so sweet of Shilpa but those scums will never appriciate anything.

now all of a sudden she's an expert in cooking chicken!!! she's just got a big chavy mouth, might've learnt a thing or two since she was last in, but still aint got no self respect, esp with danielle egging her on
Everyone's saying so what she cooked the chicken wrong? But the reason they're so pissed off is cos they blatently told her how to do it and she ignored them..
And the only reason Shilpa has cooked all the food is cos she won't let anyone else... the other housemates have said this already.
And I hope everyone calling Jade a chav hasn't been involved in calling anyone racist against Shilpa.. cos then well, it'd just be like the pot calling the kettle black, seeing as chav is a prejudice term.

Excellent point about the use of the term "chav" It's another term that shows prejudice and discrimination except that chav is treating someone differently because of their social class rather than the colour of their skin. Both are just as reprehensible though.

I think racism is much worse than calling someone a 'chav'.
As I understand the term it doesn't simply refer to someone from a lower social class, but of a particular way of behaving.
Slartibartfast
16-01-2007, 10:01 AM
They're both terms which single someone out because they are different than the "norm" (whatever the hell the norm is!!)
Britain has long been obsessed with class and I find chav is a term used to mark someone out as coming from a particular social class, although behaviour is also a factor. They're both prejudicial terms, it's just that our society seem more comfortable discriminating against someone becuase of class whereas the same actions over skin colour or nationality doesn't sit so comfortably with people.

Nonsense. Althugh Chav is normally seen as a council estate hoodie it mainly refers to someone's personality and behaviour. You can come from a 'disadvantaged social class' and not be a chav.
I hate racism, but I'll quite happily call Jade a chav. because she is one.

Well then your just ignorant.
Chav is a subcultural stereotype.
It is not at all mainly used to refer to someone's personality and behaviour exclusively, it refers to a whole subculture in which the word includes the way the person dresses, their "status", where they come from, the way in which they lead their lives, and also includes their personality and behaviour.
The word in itself is demeaning , and the use of the word is prejudice when used in any circumstance.
If it was just about their behaviour and personality you could call Paris Hilton a chav, but you wouldn't would you.

Definitely. Paris Hilton is a chav.
The point is, chav is used to describe personality traits such as rudeness, ignorance and disrespect just as much as it describes the image of cheap jewellry, leisure wear, Lambert and Butler and baseball caps.
Being a chav is something that you choose to be, and people from a council estate can choose not to be a chav. The difference with racism, is that it is the irrational discrimination of someone simply for their nationality or the colour of their skin.
So yes, both are discriminatory terms, but it could be argued that 'chav' has connotations of encouragemnet (i.e. better yourself and we wont call you a chav) but racism is out and out intolerance. Theres a huge difference.

I thought 'Chavs' basically means young people who are anti-social. Paris Hilton is a party-girl who is famous for being famous - she doesn't exactly cause much offense to anyone.
If 'Chav' is an unacceptable term to describe Jade maybe 'horrible, ignorant, nasty bully' would do.

Hm, your comment has absolutely no substance to me "sweetheart".. please explain what you mean by the shades of grey I am missing out..
Are you sayin "chav" is not a prejudice word?
Is it not used, especially by the media, to tarnish a subculture of a poorer community, and does it not lead to generalisation and stereotypical views.
Isit because it is not used as a direct term for someone's colour, so it therefore doesn't matter.
As, if Jade is a chav, and as that is what she is, you can therefore call her a chav and it is acceptable, why is it not acceptable for Jackiey to call Shilpa "the indian girl" if she has trouble pronouncing her name, as that is what she is now isn't? Sweetheart

Listen sweetheart, the last thing I want to do is get into some tedious discussion about semantics and what applies to what.
I'm saying that racism is a profoundly different debate than simple everyday discrimination. Discrimination can be found everywhere you look to an extent, so if you want to start highlighting it all, youre not going to have any time to do anything else. It is too big an issue to tackle in this day in age.
Racism however, is more clearly defined, and a suitable place to start the debate. It is also the significantly more severe aspect as it represents absolute intolerance. If you dont see this, then ill leave you to tackle the problem of ALL THE WORLDS discrimination problems on your own. Best of luck sweetheart.

Ok...
Calling a poster 'sweetheart', describing posts as 'nonsense', and saying anothe forum members is 'ignorant' (as was said in the edited post above) are all against the rule of the forum which says other members' views should be respected
If it continues warnings / posting bans will be given.
And this debate about the word 'chav' is not about the house, it's about forum discussion. This word has not been used in the house. Please stick to discussion about BB and the housemates, and not forum members.

In no part of my text did I begin to highlight irrelevant cases of discrimination or tackle all of the worlds discrimination, other than the usage of the word 'chav', which is relevant as people have been using it.
I wasn't discussing racism and saying 'hey but you're just as bad cos u called Jade a chav' so I am therefore not trying to compare the two in terms of which is worse, I in no way take racism lightly.
I was discussing Shilpa cooking chicken, I then noticed people were calling Jade a chav and as I feel chav is a discriminate word I decided to say something in regards to this.
Of course the worlds full of grey and not everything is black and white, but there is still a distinct line between what is right and wrong, and discrimination (however everyday and simple it may be) isn't right.
