I wish America would ban guns. It's obviously not going to happen for as long as these gun nuts are linked to political power but I hope that it'll happen in my lifetime - incidents like this just wouldn't happen anywhere near as often if they outlawed guns.

however if I may play devils advocate, id point out gun murder rates are down a heck of a lot in the US over 20 years (49%) and under Obama its down to 3.5 , though clearly hes desperate to get it down much further

8 south American nations have worse gun death rates plus mexico and south Africa

before we brits get too preachy, many of our violent crime rates are worse than America and drug related crime rate is over 1000 times worse??

Pretty much. Materialistic capitalism / consumerism has created a shallow and vain society in which people are compelled by the authorities to work like dogs, from birth until death, in exchange for peanuts while a small group of select people cream off the top. There's a vague promise of some sort of pay-off "one day" that for 95% of people does not, and can not, come to pass.

This realisation hits some people like a tonne of bricks and the fact that some snap is entirely unsurprising. Most won't even fully understand why they've snapped when the illusion shatters.

I've genuinely wondered if it could have been me, had I ever bought into the illusion in the first place. But I've felt it in my bones for as long as I can remember.
