[The Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords has resigned after
a national newspaper published video of him apparently
taking drugs with prostitutes.
Baron John Sewel stepped down from his post after the
revelations appeared in The Sun On Sunday.

it was in my head all night this image - i did not sleep a wink - thanks arista - but it inspired my latest poem - arista you are my barrister lol enjoy my take on this story. did send it to labor party - won't hold my breath for a reply.

2 times prosi's and a lord and a off-jerk (arriving soon in Soho) 27.07.15

no this is not theatrical
its not a show in Soho
into disrepute i want to get political
because lord Sewel needs some other kind of "blow".
we have all questioned expenses
i think i done poems galore
we are funding pedophilia and nonce's
but this party had not 1 but a double *****.
so is this to big for him to handle
or will mr Sewel be unscathed and shine
making a good scandal
this lord said always makes a good headline.
will this effect labor
could they feel like a isolated red smarty
since tony blair left needed is a saviour
this lord has confirmed over is this party.
likely to be out booted
but he is old and has been pampered
with no dignity but can still be saluted
the perks of the job won't have hampered.
i love the public speaking
these issues prove mr sewel did lie
his own downfall he was leaking
very distasteful is humble pie.
i am calling to pay MP's a wage
no more expenses or any perk
we have to get Parliament to engage
because i am disgusted i pay for 2 prosi's and a off jerk.

he is a lawmaker responsible for laws that have put thousands of "common" folk in jail for doing the same thing he did. he should be in jail.

like he hasn't swept his flat yet?

they should take a hair sample. the hair will show whether he's been using drugs or not.
it should also be a crime to be deciding on british law while under the influence, that is more dangerous than driving while under the influence imo. it certainly affects more people.

for the record i don't think there is anything morally wrong with drugs or prostitution, i just think because of the HIPOCRISY that he is a law maker that has sent countless men and women to jail for those crimes, he is absolutely unfit and should face the same consequences he has been responsible for sentencing others to.

i am torn on this because if so many people are doing this and people in these positions that are running this country - is it not best we legalise all drugs and get a income from it and that can be used for the help of dealing with the problem.

clearly people in high positions that are running our country are doing this and the question is ? how can we make it better for us all as why are these people setting laws yet are not leading such a normal a perfect life ? something is not adding up and it needs fixing.

If he wants to snort coke and screw hookers in his private home I don't see how that impacts upon his ability to do his job, and if it does, proper steps should have been taken to ensure he stepped down.

I don't agree when the police use entrapment, which is a difficult thing to get to stand up in a court of law. When the tabloids use it, it is deplorable. Almost as deplorable at the "trial by media" that ensues. I'm sure no one would be quite so triumphant if it happened to them and their life was wrecked.

Mm this seems to be something he'd do pretty regularly though whether a tabloid happened to have the chance to film it or not. Actually I think this shows the value of tabloids and red tops in a time when they are normally derided by the public. It's clear that he expected to get away with his behaviour and it makes you wonder how much other people in similar positions have gotten away with before the era of media exposes and greater accountability.

There is a clear conflict of interest imo between someone snorting cocaine off prostitutes and someone who is deputy speaker of the House of Lords and chairman of the conduct committee. In that latter role Sewel recently said that "the actions of a few damage our reputation. The requirement that members must always act on their personal honour has been reinforced". Has he acted on his personal honour here?

I'm not saying that his conduct was acceptable nor that he should not have stepped down, I'm saying that trial by tabloid media is not the way to go. They are not really interested in the public interest, they're interested in selling papers. There has to be another way.
