View Full Version : Should Marcus Bentley be replaced?

So I've been watching BB7 recently and he sounded so much calmer in 2006. Plus, he was no-where near the live shows which is glorious. Then I re-watched the Timebomb finale, and he just sounded awful. Stumbling on voting terms, screaching "IT'S THE LIIIVE FINAL OF BIG BROTHER 2015: TIMEBOMB. PLEASE WELCOME YOUR HOOOOST... *growls* EMMA... WWWWILLLIS!!!!", "ADJOA, AARON, AMY AND SALLY AND *growls* HARRIET" and "*growls* COOOONGRRATULATIONS DANNY! YOU... HAVE COME THIRD! PLEASE LEAVE THE BIG BRUVVA HOUSE!" Not to mention the fact that he practically became Emma's co-host on finale night, reading all the voting numbers and T&C's. He's just so unbearable now and he blocks anyone who tries to give him constructive criticism. Should he be sacked and replaced by someone else or just told to calm down?

Will.

No, I just think he should tone it down.

I think he should calm the hell down and should not be given anymore input into the live shows

Either that or he needs to seriously rein his OTT narration in. They also need to stop overusing him in completely unnecessary ways (like having him do the eviction announcement).

The people telling him to shout at the top of his lungs and exaggerate everything need to be replaced.

.

He pretty much is Big Brother whether we like it or not - he just needs to tone it down (/not block people when they suggest he does that)

I'm pretty sure he's the one who decides to do that.

He also needs to learn to count to 30 and not start shouting after 10 seconds.

(If Emma says you have 30 seconds to say your goodbyes you should have 30 seconds)

He needs to tone it down and stop being used so much.

I do wonder though whether he's been given so much free reign over the past few years the producers aren't in a position to tell him to calm down now... given he blocks people that say anything vaguely negative about him on social media I can easily imagine him being the type that would threaten to quit his job if they don't let him do x, y and z.

But yeah, calm him down on everything, remove him reading numbers T&Cs and remove him from saying 'you have been evicted, please leave the BB house'. It's meant to be Big Brother that does that, not him!

Yes and no, part of me thinks he's an iconic part of the show but part of me thinks he's so overused that it's obnoxious. Him reading the vote numbers out was a step too far.

I find the 'PREVIOUSLYYYY' intros so awfully embarrassing as well. The US ones are much better (with an amazing narrator ) and carry out the same purpose of being dramatic and teasing the show but without being tacky. We need to take inspiration from them, and steal their narrator tbh

I don't watch BBUS, but that narrator sounds awful. Doesn't suit BBUK at all.

Is it Marcus' fault though? He used to be a great narrator, is it not the producers who have got him to tone it up over the years? He will be being directed, it's not his show. If the people in charge told him to tone it down then he would, so I blame them!

He has free reign now pretty much... He used to become frustrated during earlier seasons when he couldn't be so ott I think

The HL SHOW script writing needs to be replaced first. It's got to the point where it's biased and interpretive for certain hms e. g When Cristian is banging pots and pans in front of Marc, Marcus more or less says that, but when Marc is doing something of equivalent action eg jumping on beds then he's being "mischievous". Joel steals Jack's money briefcase, when Chloe does the same thing, it's "mischievous"

Whenever I watch BB in the living room everyone shouts "PREVIOUSLY!" (and roll their eyes), it became a synonym of BB between me and my dad ("do you wanna watch previously?".
He's known as the "crazy yelling man" amongst my family :joker:

Tbh I think it's a mix of both. It's the producers fault for giving him more control but ultimately Marcus is the one who's doing the talking. Plus, he has his own voiceover booth at his house, so the only times he's down at Elstree is during a live show.

The eviction voice is done live, no wonder it always sounds so ridiculous.

Mike Goldman from BBAU is my favourite tbh.

I like the US narrator but "Previously on Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig Brother" annoys me.

If they decide to axe him and not have a narrator for it, i wouldn't care tbh:laugh: after the way he is, i rather not have a narrator anymore. On Evictions Emma should do a opening speech like Davina did.

I have no idea? but for me, he has always been a part of the show and I don't think it would be the same without him.

Go back and listen to marcus in BB1. It is incredible how he sounds. It's like a BBC nature documentary.
