...but was a hit in Ireland.

Big Brother 2015: Timebomb has cemented its status as the show’s lowest rating series to date, with an official average of less than 1.4million viewers.

The latest consolidated ratings released by BARB today – which, unlike overnights, account for factors such as recorded and timeshifted viewing – reveal that Timebomb averaged just 1.36million viewers across its 66 episodes on Channel 5 in the UK.

This is up 230,000 viewers on the overnight average of 1.13million.

The figure includes the Channel 5+1 ratings that BARB has made public for 37 episodes, although it is unlikely that the missing +1s would provide more than a marginal increase.

Elsewhere, the Timebomb final drew an official average 1.37million viewers – which is less than last year’s Power Trip final had in the overnights (1.60million).

This latest data continues a year of mixed ratings fortunes for Big Brother on Channel 5.

While the latest civilian series hit a new low, January’s Celebrity edition narrowly managed to become the broadcaster’s most watched to date – beating a record set just one year earlier.

However, while it may not have done well in the UK, Timebomb was a big hit in the Republic of Ireland – with TV3 claiming it managed to reach almost 60% of the population.

That's good news for Ireland, but really bad news for Channel 5. Perhaps now the bosses will realise that constant twists/forced drama doesn't make for good ratings and will give BB the revamp that it so badly needs.

Either it takes a revamp, goes back to C4 (impossible) or take ITVBe's supposed offer.

Well considering nearly half of the +1 figures are missing the final figure will be nearer to 1.4 million, which is better than it seems in comparison to last year's 1.57.

(and nothing's (hopefully) ever going to be as low as Celebrity Hijack so I guess you could be pedantic and say that's the lowest-rated series ever. If anyone would want to defend the current state of the show, that is)

We say this every year though. "The low ratings will make them change". No, it really won't. We will be stuck with another theme and another series full of forced drama and stupid twists that nobody wants.

Yep, C5 think the way to improve ratings is to ramp up the manipulation. Next year will be even worse.

BBUK is at the point of no return and BB14 was so Channel 4 it's heartbreaking at how bad it has become in 2 years

Endless "who said this about who?", "the public ranks the housemates from who they want to win", endless secret rooms and a complete fake like Dexter wasn't very C4 at all and BB14 started what BB15 and BB16 expanded on.

Lostie!

As much as I'm glad because (the first few weeks aside) it deserves terrible ratings, I think expecting them to make positive changes because of it is a lost cause. If anything, low ratings are likely to make them pull out even more increasingly absurd twists.

BUT the diversity of housemates, the live shows, the drama and the perfect house layout and theme can't be dissed

At least they didn't have half a dozen themes cluttering the place up like "Power hew?" and "Time wotsit?" :fist:

The cast was good, but not even the best we've had on C5, the drama was ok but it was all manufactures and happened because of BB's rigging bar a few arguments, there was FAR more natural drama in BB13, the house lay out is overrated as hell and the theme was awful as it gave us the vile Michael.

Deserves less than 1.4m. That rating isn't far off from BB12 and BB15.

They should either get off their lazy arses and actually put an effort into the programme that they are paying £40m a year for, or just call it a day with Civilian BB, TBH. I think next year will either make or break BB. If they manage to screw up BB17 next year, and have 3 bad series in a row, then I'm not going to bother with it anymore. BB16 was the first series out of the entire 11 years that I've watched BB that I've quit watching and didn't stick through till the end.

The house is underrated in that it wasn't the stereotypical trashy Channel 5 house layout and housemates had to work for things like electricity and water

I thought the BB14 house was still gaudy to some extent - though not as much as the awful BB12 and BB13 houses, but still. Apart from the mangle, vegetable patch, and the electricity bike, it still had that glitzy feel to it. The lighting, the wallpaper, the floor, etc.

I thought the BB15 house was the most C4 looking house, IMO.

This figure is without +1, a good 70% don't have +1

Still not that good though

30 episodes don't have +1

Jason.

I doubt that +1 will make a difference. It will still rate 1.4m overall. Still awful.

I really don't think the producers mean bad. Yea they should look at surveys and forums to see what people really want, but when the series is getting a lot of complaints about being boring, a good idea is to chck a few out and put a few new ones in, and then whn ratings are low they should put well known ex housemates in.

Very few people will go, oh look normal nominations I'm going to watch big brother this year, it's just gradually dying out like a lot of TV shows are. They only viewres they could now gain are the few fans who stopped watching this year, most of the casual viewers are gone now, and to be fair, it's still like amazing figures for a Channel 5 show
