Looking through the listings for Week 34 on Channel 5, the schedules pretty much set up for the return of Celebrity Big Brother. A lot of the series during this week come to an end, or one off specials air giving space for CBB the following week. The one off specials scheduled are things like Benefits Britain, Extraordinary People and the series that end this week are Ben Fogle and Person of Interest.

All slots for 10 and 11pm on Monday and Tuesday are or will be free at 10pm and 11pm, 9pm and 11pm are or will be free on Wednesday. Wentworth is sandwiched between at 10pm.

A big clue that CBB is coming is that C5 recently moved Person of Interest from a single episode to two episodes a week on Thursday and this ends on Thursday 20th. This frees up Thursday nights.

Friday 21st is currently clear of everything from 8pm up to 11:30pm. The 11:30pm slot is filled by a repeat of Tattoo Disasters that can be removed from the schedules extremely easily meaning there is more than enough space for a two hour launch, an hour BOTS and then a half hour edition of live from the House. There is even a TBA on 3am the following morning where C5 usually repeat Big Brother.

Hopefully they'll check if there's an election on first

It's happened before I'm sure. If they can launch on a Monday I'm more than certain a Friday launch would be easy.

Last Friday Launch was CBB13, if I remember correctly. But I'm perched.

I miss the days when BB used to launch on the last Friday of May. :flutter:

Is it me or is there always more hype when theres a Friday launch? I remember being so excited for CBB13 launch! It felt like an event! we had family friends round and we all sat down to watch it :flutter:

And then CBB15 launch I remember a lot of people I knew didn't watch the launch (but watched the series), it dint feel like that special, plus we were back at school which felt odd as it always laughed before we went back.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. I think because CBB13 launched whilst Christmas break was still on, whilst CBB15 launched when people had literally gone back to school/work.

I also think because Friday is the day before the weekend, so staying up late isn't an issue.

yeah! And CBB12 also launched on a Thursday and that was really good. CBB15 launch felt odd in a way like BB16.

CBB11 was good even though that launched on a Thursday.

Again 14 didn't feel like an event as that launched on a Monday.

The only days that work really are Thursday and Friday.

the only tim a mid week launch works is if it's 1st-3rd January as people are still off - like CBB11.

CBB11 and CBB12 both launched on Thursday.

I think a Sunday launch for CBB in January would work well. Sunday 3rd January 2016 would be good. They did this for CBB7, and I think it helped with ratings.

Yeah, it could end on Friday 29th January, making it the same amount of time as CBB13.

If they do a Friday launch I really hope they have a Friday finale too, midweek ones are awful.

MB.
01-08-2015, 09:44 AM
...the only CBB to have a midweek finale was CBB13, wasn't it? (discounting CBB8, which had the BB12 launch the next night anyway)

Well if they do end on a Friday it will be 29 days long, which sounds about right.

(Unless it's a 'ratings smash' and they extend it like CBB13)

They'd be really stupid to extend it even more, when it's already 29 days (4 weeks). 4 weeks is extended as it is, to extend it even further would just be awful. Wouldn't that take us to five weeks? :omgno:

It's not a celebration, it's a launch night. They're not going to dedicate 4 hours to a show that barely reaches over 3m. What is there to "celebrate"? Every series has a theme so it's hardly anything special.

3 million to channel 5 is like 20 million to the BBC.

Most CH5 shows get like 800k
