ANTM First watch/Rewatch thread

I haven't seen a thread for people watching or re-watching previous ANTM seasons so I thought I'd start one.

I'm planning on watching all ANTM seasons from the first one in order and I've already finished Cycle 1. I personally thought the season was really good and although it was a bit rough around the edges (like most first RTV seasons are) I was thoroughly entertained. There were lots of iconic moments such as Elyse's rant, Ebony/Robin fight and Robin/Shannon refusing to do a nude photoshoot (and Robin's tittie shaking getting exposed) and I loved Adrianne and I thought she was a great first winner.

I've been tempted to pick ANTM up again at some point. Cycle 9 made me quit but I heard it just got even worse and tackier since with a few exceptions like 18 alol. The first eight cycles are iconic and amazing (except for 7) and I cannot WAIT for you to watch Cycle 3. It's the Pearl Islands, the BBUS3, the BBUK6, etc. of the franchise <3

Ignore Troy with regards to Cycle 7. That season is amazing, one of my all time favourites :love:

ANTM doesn't really get "bad" until Cycle 15... like, there are a few cycles prior to that which aren't ~amazing~ but they're nit really terrible either, just the worst of a good bunch. It starts to get "bad" from 15 onwards, but even then the cycles aren't really awful until like Cycle 19, since there's individual characters who make it worthwhile. 16, and 18 are exceptions to the post-15 rule though, and 19 would've been good had it not been for the social media shizz

Cycle 21 has been painful. I literally hate them all apart from Chantelle, Keith and maybe Adam. Will is soooo damn annoying and whiney.

The bullying of Chantelle that cycle for people justifying it because "she was a bitch" even though she did nothing wrong and was completely disrespected by not only the contestants, but by Yu Tsai calling her a 'Panda' too...

I'm so pleased for how successful she's been post-show.

I don't think 7 is bad per se, but it's just another cycle of ANTM. Like, it happened. It's definitely watchable but boring and bland when you compare it to any other cycle 1 through 8.

It had so many amazing moments... Monique "peeing" on the bed, "I AM a princess of the throne" fight, Monique vs Melrose, Melrsoe vs everyone, "Did you just remove that from your ass from last panel?", the male model who didn't like black girls, the messy Halle Berry makeover, the quiet girls standing up to louder girls, one of the models coming out as gay, ICONIC photoshoots and challenges etc :love: It was the right balance of serious modelling and entertaining drama.

8 wasn't really that great in terms of the purpose of the show, which is a modelling competition, however the drama and individual characters it produced were amazing so that's what stops it from being the first ~bad~ cycle I guess.

Pretty much every cycle has an iconic moment though.

I feel like a lot of the drama centered around Monique but she doesn't rly do it for me! I found her whole shtick to be pretty transparent since she was just trying sooo hard to be a villain. It doesn't help that she had to follow Jade, but like, she clearly went in with the goal to come out like New York and she ended up more like a random Bad Girls Club nobody. Just about every other cycle delivered better content for me, C7 was just Melrose and Caridee and a bunch of forgettable nobodies to me.

Anyway, I've seen cycle 2 and it was amazing. I personally found it better than cycle 1 due to the editing being better and more drama happening (Camille vs. Yoanna, the signature walk, Shandi cheating etc.). I didn't like Yoanna and wasn't happy she won over Shandi/Mercedes but it doesn't really take anything away from the season for me.

I've heard Cycle 3 is epic and I think it's great so far (although I've only seen the first two episodes so far). The first episode/casting episode was absolutely amazing:

I can't wait to watch Cycle 4 either, mainly due to already having seen Tiffany in action and absolutely loving her. I can't wait to see her in action (including seeing the reason why she was yelled at by Tyra).

I had a day off so I decided to watch episode 3-5 of ANTM3 and this season is really just amazing. My favourite moment was definitely Crystalgate because everything about that fight was hilarious: Jennifer shoving Ann ("oh I'd like to see it!"), Eva being the bitch diva that she is, Toccara's reaction, the shouting interrupting Kristi(?) on the phone and Kelle panicking in the background looking for sunglasses :joker::joker::joker:

Toccara's elimination was such bull****. She had one bad picture and they eliminate her over losing her personality... and over ANN as well who continuously takes bad pictures and dresses badly too (her dirty clothes she walked into panel with :joker:). The only reason they would keep her is because she provides drama I guess.

Apart from that though the episode was amazing. Eva's meltdown over the spider was funny, especially when the spider was revealed and she asked whether they were posing with the spider or the woman :joker: It was funny she was so scared and yet she came up with this:

The other girls seemed to enjoy Eva's meltdown and it was really weird.

The other main storyline was Yaya being a condescending bitch :joker: The whole thing at panel was hilarious as well with Yaya generally being snotty and complaining about "fake kente" :joker: And then at the end Tyra made her apologize to the hat :joker: I was actually on Yaya's side tbh, Rebecca Weinberg's comment about Yaya's "African-ness" was terrible but Tyra's reaction was hilarious:

Omg ANTM3 is absolutely amazing. I've watched the first two episodes in Japan and I'll probably end up finishing tomorrow (which is impressive because it always takes me ages to finish series).

I loved the Ann/Eva drama throughout, first with them turning on each other and then with Ann going after Eva after that talk with Tyra :joker: And Norelle has been hilarious ever since she landed in Japan (Panda Express :joker:) and I was sad she was eliminated, over Ann again (lmfao they must keep her for the drama because she is a flop at everything else). Yaya and the Umeboshi was funny and I'm loving Yaya's turn from educated frontrunner into condescending bitch.

Just finished ANTM3. What an amazing, epic season. Everything from the cast, the drama, the stripped down and complex moments, and most of all the winner was absolutely epic and just makes the season even more epic.

Final cast ranking:
1. Toccara - big, black and beautiful. She was hilarious yet we got to see the complex and emotional moments at the same time
2. Eva - her winner journey was amazing. I loved her.
3. Kelle - hilarious but sad she didn't last longer
4. Yaya - she's a condescending bitch but I still love her
5. Norelle - adorable
6. Ann - she's kind of an awful person but she brings the drama. I've come around on her
7. Cassie - I felt sorry for her but eh
8. Julie - I appreciate the fact she was proud of her Indian heritage but she only lasted 3 eps lol

I watched the premieres of cycles 8 & 10 a week or so ago :love: casting used to be such an exciting, peripheral part of ANTM, now it's just complete dog ****. But then the show has generally turned to dog ****.

I wanna relive the best cycle ever after I finish watching season 6 of Drag Race.

Decided to start a rewatch of Cycle 19 since I only low key watched it at the time. I'll post some thoughts later. Initial ones are that Leila is too arrogant so much so it's cringing (at least when Jade was arrogant it was HILARIOUS). Victoria and Kristin are my favoruites so far both personality and model wise with Brittany and Darian not far behind .

Victoria is a modern day legend :worship: She was wasted on a new-school season tbh, she would've been even more amazing on an old-school season. Kristin is vile.

I loved Nastasia from that cycle even though producers tried to make her invisible all the time. She's one of the most stunning contestants ever and took some amazing photos :love:

Tbh I'm enjoying this so far more than I initially thought. There's already been a small argument between Kiara and Destiny which also involved Darian and it seems to really escalate next week. I'm not here for the bland chicks (Jessie, Destiny and Maria) who may be pretty but certainly aren't models. Victoria's spontaneous personality makes me love her so much and her sobbing down the phone to her mum was hilarious. Not here for arrogant Leila and the dumb fans who love her but yet hate Brittany despite her probably being one of the nicest chicks.

Thank god Maria quit! Her bad attitude wasn't even entertaining and she had no redeeming qualities tbh like most ANTM bad girls are entertaining and amazing models but Maria couldn't even model. She is one of the most ungrateful contestants ever on the show. Victoria <333 You snatch that photo of the week and the Tyra key suite. Leila and Laura clearly got the best part of the deal on makeovers while Destiny and Brittany got the worst. I'm really disappointed Darian went I think she had so much potential model and personality wise.

The fans really do talk out of their arse. Brittany is one of the loveliest girls in the competition yet apparentley she has an arrogant attitude :umm2: but they love Leila who is FULL of herself

Oh and they love Kristin who even though I like her is by far the bitchiest in the house

Voting took place before the show aired, so fans could only vote based on pictures. So it makes sense that they were getting the most votes.

I think there were too many strong personalities for it to form an amazing season as a whole, but Jaslene, Natasha, Renee, Dionne, Kathleen, Jael, Whitney, Felicia etc were all brilliant characters to watch :love:

I loved it, the most messes came out of the show as well Renee & Jael :skull:, Kathleen is one of the most robbed ANTM contestants as well.

Thank god Maria quit! Her bad attitude wasn't even entertaining and she had no redeeming qualities tbh like most ANTM bad girls are entertaining and amazing models but Maria couldn't even model. She is one of the most ungrateful contestants ever on the show. Victoria <333 You snatch that photo of the week and the Tyra key suite. Leila and Laura clearly got the best part of the deal on makeovers while Destiny and Brittany got the worst. I'm really disappointed Darian went I think she had so much potential model and personality wise.

I'm pretty happy with most of the eliminations so far this cycle. I think it's such a shame Yvonne went though I loved her giving it to BryanBoy and she was such a beautiful model. Shame that the comeback twist had to be included in this series otherwise Leila could just be a memory :bored:. Laura has had a good three weeks in the episodes I've watched but I just can't get excited about her she has no real personality behind it and there's no charisma for me. She's a good model but her personality sucks. Victoria introducing these characters with backstorys for every shoot is iconic and has me howling. She's so funny but I can imagine her being frustrating to live with. Gone right off Kristin she's nasty with Victoria and tries to patronise her so much.

I would just watch them all in order tbh, pretty much every season of ANTM is amazing and it only really becomes **** when they introduce fan voting and Boys.

Cycles 3-6 are the Golden era but like I said, just watch them in order because they're all amazing seasons. 15 & 16 is when the show starts to take itself more seriously and is less about drama, but there's still loads of drama anyway <3 17 is All Stars and it flopped but it was fun to see contestants return I guess. And 18 was UK vs USA which I really enjoyed, and was full of drama too. 19 had lots of drama but fan voting ruined it, and 20 was when I started not caring about Top Model anymore because Boys vs Girls honestly ruined the franchise. The VH1 series (23 & 24) have been good though now they've gone back to all girls again.
