Playing a teen superstar who lived a double life wasn’t all that for Miley Cyrus.

The pop star told Marie Claire that her years of working on the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana gave her a false sense of what a young woman is supposed to look like.

“I was made to look like someone that I wasn’t, which probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, Who the f— am I?” she told the magazine.

Cyrus also recalled the requisite uniform she’d have to don to play the popular character from 2006 to 2011. “From the time I was 11, it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing.’ Meanwhile, I’m this fragile little girl playing a 16-year-old in a wig and a ton of makeup. It was like Toddlers & Tiaras. I had f—ing flippers.”

The hours on the show were so long and grueling that Cyrus’ mom considered whether to bring in lights to help treat her daughter’s seasonal affective disorder, the magazine reports. “Every morning, I was getting coffee jammed down my throat to wake me up,” said Cyrus, 22. “I just had to keep going, be tough, be strong. Everything happened to me on that set.”

The Cyrus cover story for Marie Claire hits newstands Aug. 18.

I'm liking Miley in this new era, she seems to have grown beyond the twerking and tounge sticking out stick and is being more honest and down to earth :clap1:

But I could be wrong, I'm just basing this off of press articles/photoshoots but I'll perch the VMAs and see how she performs.

Loving her honesty... Perched for Disney to come after her for slander though. You would think she would've had to sign something that would prevent her from giving the dirt on being a child Disney star

Disney has always been a controlling environment. For the Mickey Mouse Club kids for example, they were fully removed from their parents and any form of social activity beyond the Disney studios' walls. They even had their own classrooms built.

But Miley has admitted several times in the past that Disney didn't initially consider her a suitable fit for Hannah Montana. They told her up from she want right fit and they didn't think she had what it takes. Even her mum and sister wasn't sure. She actively pursued the role, refusing to take no for an answer.

This whole 'I'm bisexual, cisgender slightly transgender' shtick Miles is peddling is getting tedious. I bet her and that pretend lesbian lover Stella Victoria Secret bint split up as they are n0shing the same rapper guy. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

But I thought they weren't allowed to reveal all that without sanctions

if it was that horrendous why did her parents let her do it, is she saying they're bad parents?

She is making out she was forced to do it, She would be an unknown if she hadn't come from the Disney stable, talk about biting the hand that feeds, long hair and having to wear sparkly things how abusive :joker:

Of course it's helped her but how could you doubt an upbringing like that could mess you up a bit mentally? Wouldn't wish it on my kid.

That is not in dispute, the examples she is trotting out are, and she wasn't a hostage as far as I know
