What a Old Fool
he is in todays papers saying.

Saying they told him on Thursday
he wanted longer warning?

Maybe he should try being more humble

I think they could have consulted him about it with more notice to be fair, they had the opportunity to,when Rita left a while back.
Rather a bad away to go about things in my view.

He set the time aside in his diary, maybe he turned down other work? At any rate it's very unprofessional of the BBC

Yes could be the case.

I guess they wanted to let him go
later so he could not join as a X Factor Judge

The BBC keep saying
they never confirmed he was on the next contract.

Tom has a manager
who could have checked it all
Sack Him

To be quite frank,if ever anyone was secure as a judge on 'The Voice',I really thought Tom Jones would have been secure until he himself decided he wanted to go.

It is a pretty bad way to treat him.

They've treated him appallingly with the way they've sacked him, no way to treat anyone let alone a legend like Sir Tom.

Why is he an 'old fool' for speaking out about being treated so badly?

I find it quite refreshing that he has been so honest about how they treated him. He and Will were the only judges who had been there from the start and showed The Voice any loyalty so to pretty much push him out a day before they announced the judges to the public is rude, he had set time aside to do the show and possibly turned down work or personal activities.

The BBC are the fools here for getting rid of him tbh.

This would have been his 5th year so I guess a precedent was set and negotiations were pretty informal, wheels must have been put in motion to get BG at some point why not tell him then? I agree his agent was naive but I guess they felt as there were no issues the arrangement would continue I think he is more annoyed at how sneaky the Beeb have been rather than actually going.

Niiice

Why should he try being more humble? It's nothing to do with being humble, it's about him feeling he has been treated wrongly by something he has been committed to.

If Sir Tom Jones was an American, there would be boulevards and Streets named after him and statues erected in his honour as per Elvis.

Can you imagine if Elvis had still been with us and had been a judge on the American X Factor since its inception? Do you think that any pimply young bright producers who thought he was 'passe' would have DARED oust the King in such a similarly disgraceful and cowardly fashion?

If I was Sir Tom, I would look upon this whole disgraceful incident with wry satisfaction, because time will prove that it's akin to having been forced off the Titanic just before the iceberg hit.

The Voice is doomed and will be forgotten, but the true legend that is Sir Tom will live on forever.

I agree Kirk... The man is an institution and the only reason I watched the UK version....

And the voice is a sinking ship throughout the franchise. He is best out, but I loved him on it

Surprised they got rid of Sir Tom but no that surprised when you find out how much money he was on. The voice is becoming an even bigger mess than XF.

I love the voice and I won't lie I was only interested in Will being kept on but that's not to say I agree with how Tom was fired or that I think hiring Boy George in his place was a good trade either. I like Boy George but Tom Jones is worth 2 or 3 times him in a heart beat

..I'm not sure why he's an old fool for expecting better treatment from the BBC, this is not some obscure TV channel, it's a channel that is meant to set a precedence ..or used to be..regardless of whether it was his manager's responsibility to secure his place as well in the programme, this is about their behaviour and how this was done...

...anyways, Will I Am going was already something that would take away so much for me to keep watching and now Tom as well, just not good really...

To get this in the Papers

Its a shame as Tom is the only one who genuinely wanted to be there and you can tell he loved the job

I agree Niamh - I love the Voice and much prefer it to XF, but - like you - WILL and TOM were what made the show for me.

I love Will because I think he is a genius but oh so humorous with it, and Tom Jones is a true legend who I have been a fan of for years. The mix of judges was perfect for me with these two as the 'mainstays' and as much as I loved Culture Club, BG is no substitute for Tom.

In my experience, once 'Bright Young Things' assume positions of control and power within any 'show bizz' institution and start 'indulging' THEIR ideas with no thought for the audience/viewers, then the 'writing' is well and truly 'on the wall'.

I think the Voice is doomed, and I don't think it will be long before Will quits to be honest.
