TiBB General Election - 2015/16




This hasn’t been done for a few years and there has been a little controversy attached to it in the past but well, not on my watch you don’t..:fist:..and we have lots and lots of new members who probably haven’t been a part of it before…Marcus, the last TiBB Prime Minister has I believe resigned in the midst of an expenses scandal so the forum needs a new ‘leader’….this is a fun thing and light hearted thing and a chance to use your creative skills.. I haven’t done anything like this before but I figure all I have to do is drink coffee for a few weeks and then count votes at the end so that should be manageable…anyways, I’ve basically copied Ben’s last OP when he did it and that’ll have to do for the moment until my typing skills are on par again but if it does go ahead/if members want this to happen..?...then I’ll fluff it up a bit and ask Tom if he’ll do a pretty logo as well…(I’ve said 2015/16 as I don’t know if it can be fitted into this year’s schedule so it may happen at the beginning of next year if that’s not possible..)…

So just to see if there is interest in this, the rules etc..(copied from Ben again..)…

Part 1:

Members may nominate one member only (with that person's permission), but you may NOT nominate yourself.

Part 2:

Once we have ten potential candidates with two votes each, they will be the leaders of their campaign. They must state in 100 words or less why they should go forward to Part 3.

From here the forum members then may support ONE candidate and choose to 'back' them. Once a candidate reaches 8 supports they will qualify for Part 3. Only five candidates will make it.

Part 3:

From here the 5 successful candidates will then gather a team; a campaign manager and a designer. These three will then put together a campaign speech detailing why they should be elected to become TiBB's Prime Minister. They will also need to produce a party name, posters, logo, campaign support and anything else they feel may give them an advantage over their other candidates.

The campaign speeches and campaign promotion shall be posted and a forum vote shall occur where the supporters can vote for their favourite party, with the winning campaign taking the crown.


Everyone can vote, including Candidates, Campaign Managers, designers and Supporters. Please let's keep this light-hearted and fun.

Hmm, Just noticed this, unfortunately not knowing when it is likely to be taking place makes it hard to commit time to it,I recall when I did the first one, it took loads of my time and then the following year,when I assisted Jack_ as best I could,I found it hard to give the time required even for a fun game.
So I doubt I would want to be nominated myself again, and the other thing with this event too, was the last one held made it very hard to interact with all the candidates,
With the special threads only for each candidate and party.

If people didn't look into your thread, then your message was lost to most and never really got across.
In the first year under *Kate*, there was a rolling thread continuous for all parties and candidates to interact on all topics and policies which made for a very exciting and more involved with all result.

I loved both the ones I did but was frustrated at the speed done to complete the process and then the separate threads for parties in the 2nd one of these.

So time is the factor,there is CBB coming now and then another most loved either November or December likely too.
If it was impossible for me to give the time needed to thls event,were anyone thinking of myself at all, then I would want to go all out for someone else who I agreed with more in it who wanted to be a party/candidate.

It is a good event and I am glad there is a chance of it being resurrected after an x year,however please consider removing the actual campaign from being done in separate party threads and bring back *Kates* continuous rolling thread which not only brought all sides into play together in the same place but made for,in my view, a far more entertaining and interesting show.

Where all members and candidates could ask each other questions in the same place so others could look back and see what was said, and also more to the point directly challenge each other too, rather than have to go on 'individual' threads to do so.

Sorry to go on,I love political things and elections are fascinating so well done Ammi for trying to bring this back.

(Would I really want to be a main candidate in this again,I am not sure).
I still get my Dad at times saying, I couldn't even win a fun election on a forum,he never lets me forget that.
