It is finely ground tobacco which is sniffed by the 'pinch' and nicotine is absorbed rapidly by the fine blood vessels in the nostrils. (I think). It's supposedly much 'safer' than smoking and coal miners used it whilst underground to stave off nicotine craving because smoking cigarettes was prohibited.

I've used it years ago (it was actually 'fashionable' amongst we 'mods' in the late 60's for a time :laugh:

Predominantly floral (although I am unable to identify the flower, may be lilac as the previous review states, and carnation), with a clean, fresh soapiness with a hint of leaf sap and spice in the lingering finish."
