UK Release is 28th. It's always like that with UK releases for some reason, they're always like 3 or 4 days later. Might be something to do with the console being different to international ones. I remember trying to buy a game only available in America once (it was for the Wii tho) and was advised not to because the disc would not play on a UK console.

Apparently this game is a real mind****. Like, the auto save function is really strict so you can't change your decisions by quickly quitting or w/e.

Oh and even though it gives you two options for a decision, theres also a 3rd option to just do nothing (by not pressing anything) and sometimes that's better than choosing an option.

I like it, I've only played the prologue and the first chapter so far but it's good.

I accidentally killed two people in the first ten minutes oop. As for the choices I've made so far.

I made Sam snoop on Chris' phone, I've let Matt find out that Emily's cheating on him and I've not harmed any animals so far

And I think the death in the prologue is unavoidable. That's like the only thing where your choices don't matter as the outcome is the same. That's what I've heard anyway. I've only seen a play through of the prologue so that's all I know!

Well, I'll say one thing. I think it's going to be very difficult to get everyone to survive

I think two of the characters have died, one for definite is dead but the other one's fate was left a bit open ended.

I'm really liking the story at the moment, There's so many potential plotlines going on that it's actually hard to predict what's actually happening.

Watched Giant Bomb's Quick Look and this looks awesome. I'm a complete wuss with horror so I'll never play it, but can imagine it being great for anybody who likes the genre. It's such a good idea for a video game.

Mike has fast become my favourite, I went back to pet the wolf like 4 or 5 times and I don't think Jess is dead but yeah she fell down the mine for me too.

That's a good theory, I can't see how you can save them both otherwise. I don't know if I buy the whole supernatural angle just yet. There's definitely something monstrous in the woods but I don't think Hannah's gonna be a ghostly killer.

The reason I say ghost was the hand that grabbed Jess was ghostly white, if that's not it I think it's maybe the ghosts/manifestations/demons of the miners who died. I had the idea of using the PS4 recording system to see just how vocal I was when playing the game. Turns out I yell a lot.

I blew up Mike in the Sanitarium :worry: I think he's alive though. I feel so bad though, A wolf jumped out on me and a kicked it by instinct and looking back I don't think it was going to hurt me :sad:. I was gonna play more but it's too light and I can barely see what's happening.

It's basically a story heavy game in which your decisions changes how the story progresses. Everyone can live and everyone can die depending on your choices.

Here's my theory on wtf is going on (Don't click until you get to the start of Chapter 9 which is where I am atm. Massive spoilers)

Hannah is the Wendigo that the flamethrower man is hunting. Emily mentions that she thinks that Hannah was alive for a while after falling off the cliff and I think she partially ate Beth to try to survive which turned her into a Wendigo. The Wendigo that chased the twins at the beginning was probably one of the miners who was trapped in the collapse and was previously captured and trapped by the Flamethrower man but somehow broke free on the night Beth died. That why the Washingtons weren't killed by a Wendigo when they spent whole summers on the mountain because it was locked up.

Well I'm on chapter 9 (i think) and Mike is heading back into the mines but he took the cute Wolf, I really hope the wolf doesn't die :worry:

My opinion has changed so much on characters, I really like Emily now, she is bad ass and I've gone off Ashley, I really hated her trying to convince Mike to shoot her.

I don't think anyone is dead yet for me, I think Mike may find Jess in the mines and Matt was alive last time I saw him...Josh may be dead but I doubt that too

Although the end sequence shows Josh mid transformation into a Windigo

I would 100% rec this game to anyone, it had me on the edge of my seat and screaming and jumping all over the place. I enjoyed every minute and I think the story had some really amazing twists and turns. I also think most of the characters are fun to get to know and they all have pretty good archs. I do wish I could have had a chance to play as Jess more but I'd say overall they balanced it well.

Well I'm on chapter 9 (i think) and Mike is heading back into the mines but he took the cute Wolf, I really hope the wolf doesn't die :worry:

My opinion has changed so much on characters, I really like Emily now, she is bad ass and I've gone off Ashley, I really hated her trying to convince Mike to shoot her.

I don't think anyone is dead yet for me, I think Mike may find Jess in the mines and Matt was alive last time I saw him...Josh may be dead but I doubt that too

How much did you howl when Emily slapped the soul out of Ashley? 'Understand the palm of my hand, bitch' was literally the line of the game for me :flutter:

I've done the first two scenes of Chapter 9, The Sanitorum with Mike and all those Wendigos was tense as hell. I was tempted to go investigate the voice as Ashley since I thought it would lead to her dying horribly as the book said that Wendigos could mimic people but I decided to try and get to the end with as many people as possible still alive. Not gonna get the perfect ending though since one of the characters has died without a shadow of a doubt. I also realised that I hadn't installed the extra scene included in the case so if I've missed the chance to do so it gives me another incentive to play through the story again afterwards :flutter:

I wanna see if I can kill them all on my second playthrough.

Just finished Chapter 6.

I think I killed Emily </3 She fell with the tower and I tried saving her at first but knew they would both die unless I just got Matt to jump to safety since it was falling anyway. I gave Matt the flare gun since that's what the guidance totem said to do. And I have no idea whether I just killed both Ashley and Chris or saved them both... the guidance totem suggested that I don't shoot either of them so I just let the timer run out but then the blade got really close to Ashley's head and she screamed and then the chapter ended so idk if they both died (if so then **** the guidance totem :fist:) or both lived.

The psychiatrist guy still freaks me out, especially with him talking to the killer and yelling at him. I really don't know if he's supposed to be real or not.

So far I have Sam, Matt and Mike definitely alive. Jess fell down the shaft but was alive when I reached her as Mike, so she might still be alive yet idk. And Emily fell down with the tower and I really hope she's not dead but I really don't know how she'll survive that one :laugh: And Chris and Ashley's fate is undetermined yet, but knowing me I probably killed them both :laugh: Josh is the only one pretty much confirmed dead at this point, although now I'm starting to doubt it because thinking about it, there was no possible way of keeping everyone alive if he really is dead. Guess I'll find out soon enough!

I'm on my second play through and jeeeez it's all going wrong, Matt died at the fire tower even though he had the flair gun which I don't even understand.

Also I picked Ashley to die over Josh and Josh still 'died' so I think Ashley is pretty hard to kill. I am going to follow the voice with Ashley in the mines and see if she dies this time.

My aim is to save just Jessica this time haha

You have the option to increase and decrese the lighting, 1st play through I kept it pitch black to amp up the atmosphere but I am on my 2nd now and I've lightened it up and the graphics are amazing, they didn't hide anything in the darkness.

I've still jumped plenty and this time around I've explored more, especially in the mines with Emily.

I think I've worked out a few ways to avoid death

Matt should be reluctant to head to the fire tower and Emily should give him the flair gun, if he is too quick at wanting to go the fire tower he wastes the flair on signaling help when it's the only way to save him when he falls into the tunnels

I also did better during the chase with Sam this time haha

Ah, I didn't go anywhere near the flares when I was in the fire tower as I remembered a totem that showed Emily dying in an explosion. Explains why Matt died in the mines then.

Only Emily, Sam and Jess survived

I accidentally aimed the gun from the trap at Ashley and then and at the point when Chris and the flame thrower guy went to look for Josh I survived the Wendigo attacks got to the cabin door begging to be let in and...Ashley smiled and left me to die! Chris got his head ripped off.

Ashley is a BITCH!

I managed to kill her in the tunnels by following Jessica's voice in the tunnels, it was a Wendigo in a cellar and it decapitated her.

I love how you can literally make every single character a bad person, first play through Emily was a bitch, she was horrible to Matt but this one she is a sweetheart, she's caring and sweet and worried about him. The 2nd Ashley has been evil, I have made her into a horrible person she's awful not even Sam ended up liking her.

Completed it, three deaths although one was complete and utter bull****.

Matt, Josh and Sam died. Matt and Josh was fair enough but Sam died because I 'failed' one of the Don't Move sections although I wasn't moving....

Overall I think it's a fantastic game, I think the 'Don't Move' sections may be a little bugged but aside from that's it a 9/10 game for me. Definitely my favourite game so far this year.

I thought I'd killed her but then I've just started chapter 8 and the guy gave her a sparkler thing and seems to be helping her?

And it looks like Hannah is alive (or was alive?) and Beth is dead? And some supernatural creature is chasing the mystery guy?

That section with Emily is so godamn good, the game kinda lacks atmosphere for most of the scares but that whole section is so scary.

Just finished my first game.

Only Matt, Sam and Emily survived. I felt kinda guilty at the end because I had the option as Sam to either "save Mike" or flick the switch and burn the house/wendigos, and I went with the latter. I don't know whether saving Mike would've worked or not but I didn't want to risk Sam dying. I ended up getting Jessica killed after Matt found her alive, and they were walking through the mines but started being chased, and I told her to run instead of hide, which caused her death I think. Matt managed to hide from them though, although I'm not sure how he was discovered by rescuers as it didn't show it. Possibly the flare gun?

It's good that you can replay the game from a certain point onwards (by choosing which episode you want to re-start from) since it would probably get tiring starting from the beginning every time, especially since I didn't have any real deaths until like Chapter 7.

Also I wonder if any of you could clarify this for me:
What happens to Josh in the end? Is there no way of actually saving him? Because he was taken away alive by Hannah's wendigo form (because he recognised her tattoo, and she recognised him according to the butterfly effect page), yet after the credits rolled and Matt, Sam and Emily were interrogated, it showed Josh in the cave becoming cannibalistic and looking like he turned into a wendigo, but the rescuers found him and said "we've found another survivor" and then I pressed R1 to see the butterfly effect and it said "Josh was found alive, isolated and cannibalistic"... but I'm 99% sure he was forming into a wendigo, so unless there's a way to keep him alive in human form, then I'd hardly say having Josh alive in wendigo form counts as "keeping all players alive".

So yeah, I'll probably play on from Chapter 7 (Chris's death) and continue from there to try and keep everyone alive, as I had been doing a good job up until that point as everyone was still alive. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

I just read an interesting theory on another forum but don't think anyone has tested it yet:

Yes, the only two known deaths for Josh Washington is getting killed here by Hannah (Wendigo) or surviving til the end but getting stuck underground and start eating flesh, which results in him turning into a Wendigo. But there is a theory about Josh. There was a book by Victor Milgram (flamethrower guy) who says that if someone kills a Wendigo without really having to, its spirit is released and will posses someone to eat flesh and become a Wendigo (hence why Josh was compelled to eat flesh in the first place). But the theory is, "What if you don't kill any of the Wendigos at ALL in the story? Then Josh wouldn't be a target. After all, it is confirmed that Hannah and Beth wants their friends to find out the truth about their deaths, but if the group fails, then Josh will have to reap the consequences, so what if you prevented that? There are a few people testing this theory as I speak, along with making sure (with Mike) that Josh doesn't die like in this video by picking up the diary. Hope this helped. :)

It's possible I guess, you can't die as Mike in the Sanitorum so you probably don't have to shoot the explosives. Sam managed to kill the Wendigo attacking Mike because it was on fire so if the Sanitorum remains intact she'll probably just stun it instead. The only time you HAVE to kill any Wendigos is that the end and the Lodge is really far from the mines so it might actually work.

Do you need ALL the Twin clues to save Josh? I thought you only needed the Journal in the last chapter

If you choose to save Mike they both survive as long as you pass the 'Don't Move' section...I think that's the case anyway, my controller vibrated and murdered Sam at that point.

Josh gets dragged back by Wendigo Hannah

Ashley, Chris and Emily are in the lodge and as Sam I had to stand still 1st time just to stop Mike having to save me. 2nd time I had to save Mike from being attacked and Chris ran out. 3rd stand still Emily and Ashley ran out, 4th time was by a wall and Wendigo Hannah is literally in your face and the controller goes crazy when she roars while this happens Mike escapes and then as the the Wendigo turns away Sam runs for the switch and dives out

Yeah that really annoyed me as Jessica was one of my faves at the very start and she literally vanishes in like the 3rd Chapter and didn't appear again until Chapter 10 where I had her alive for about 3 minutes before she died...

Later on, Chris is running from the wendigo, gets to the door, and Ashley is like "**** off you were going to shoot me so I'm not letting you in :)". Wattt??? She TOLD me to! Talk about inconsistent... Poor Chris got his head pulled off :(. I was going to try to save everyone in my second play but I think I might save everyone EXCEPT her. Haw haw. I'm doing a run in which I try to save everyone and then I'm gonna try to get the bad ending by killing everyone. Then if I'm not bored of the game by then I'm gonna do one in which only Emily survives :flutter:

Yeah I assumed following the voice would kill her - especially as in my first play, Jess was long dead by that point... So her voice echoing down a hallway was a cue to run away fast. Chris was also dead though, Ashley was left behind alone because she wanted to close the grate, and Sam and Emily were just like "Yeah whatevz but we're going ahead, catch up!". Which seemed a bit harsh, it only took her a couple of seconds!

Played the game. Thought it was really good.

I tried to survive with everyone on my first try and got extremely close.. I didn't make it with everyone just because of the final decision. I ended up surviving with Matt, Jessica, Chris & Sam (and technically Josh I guess but he transformed into a Wendigo or whatever that ending was supposed to mean)... I messed up running for the switch instead of saving Mike. :joker: That got Mike, Emily & Ashley killed. I wasn't really thinking when I decided to run for the switch... I thought the others were close enough to the door to escape as well lol.

My top 2 favorite characters were Matt and Jessica and they probably each got the least screen time. :fist: That's the only thing I didn't really like. But still a really fun game and might try a second time after a while.

Oh and reading on some of the other possibilities after playing the game, I can't believe I got so close to having 0 deaths. I made some insanely clutch decisions... which is what I wanted but I definitely feel like I have to play it again for more of the suspense involved in it. I just kinda wish I didn't look anything up after so that I could play it again not knowing what the other outcomes would be. :shrug:

What I liked about this is that I could make the characters do the smart things for the most part. Unlike in actual horrors where people will split up, investigate sounds, and do all kinds of stupid things. :joker: There was plenty of control with things like that, making you feel like you're in it and making a difference for the characters' lives.

Yeah I started off assuming that "safe" routes were better than "quick", but I think actually quick is always best if you're decent at QTE's.

My wife doesn't know the playstation button layout very well and was in control of Mike running after Jess... Stumbled too many times and that's what got her killed :(

Jessica is the first of my characters to die. An elevator destroyed her life and Mike is being blamed by the butterfly effect because he fell off a log into water running after her. I pressed the wrong button. She was my least favourite character though. ****ing moody bitch.

So for anyone who has yet to replay... DON'T skip back chapters on your next play through without finishing! Learned this the hard way. I was going for saving everyone, saved everyone right up until chapter 8 (had previously gone back to chapter 4 to save Jess and later Chris, successfully), then accidentally got Emily killed and thought "Oh it's OK I'll just restart this chapter". NOPE. Reverted my game back to my first playthrough and Jess and Chris were still dead. Utterly lame. Although funnily enough, when I played from there until the end, Mike survived and Sam died whereas in my first play it was the other way around.

Meh. At least I got to see a couple of extra death scenes. Next playthrough we're killing everyone :devil:... impossible to mess that up. Bad decisions here we come!

You have to click "Resume" option when wanting to continue from your last play. The episodes options are only from your first play through.

Yeah, it was at the end of the sanatorium when being chased by a wendigo, you go into a room and jump down, but if you don't block the door first it gets in and gets poor wolfie. You might only even be in that scenario if you fail to hit the wendigo with the machete... I don't know... Because I managed to miss the button prompt for that on both playthroughs :joker:

True. It's easy enough to have her survive the Mike chase (once you know a basic rule of the entire game - that risky but faster is almost ALWAYS the better option during chase / climb scenes), but a controller slip can kill her (and Matt) at the last minute in the final chapter. Although the same is true of Sam in the very last scene in the house, you can lose her too easily at the "keep still" even if you stay perfectly still... In fact, I'd say it's easier to lose Sam there than Jess in her final scene.

Chris is annoying also because he can die late on, but because of a decision made several chapters earlier, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Mike on the other hand is almost invincible, the ONLY way to kill him is by essentially choosing to have him die at the very end. You can **** around and make every bad decision possible in the sanatorium... The ****er just will not die!
