statement reads as follows.

When I was 7 I wanted to be 8. When I was 8 I wanted to be 12. When I turned 12 I just wanted to be 18. Then after that I stopped wanting to be older. Now I’m ticking 16-24 boxes just to see if I can blag it! I feel like I’ve spent my whole life so far wishing it away. Always wishing I was older, wishing I was somewhere else, wishing I could remember and wishing I could forget too. Wishing I hadn’t ruined so many good things because I was scared or bored. Wishing I wasn’t so matter of fact all the time. Wishing I’d gotten to know my great grandmother more, and wishing I didn’t know myself so well, because it means I always know what’s going to happen in the end. Wishing I hadn’t cut my hair off, wishing I was 5’7”. Wishing I’d waited and wishing I’d hurried up as well.

My last record was a break up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. But I haven’t got time to hold on to the crumbs of my past like I used to. What’s done is done. Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my 20s. Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully fledged adult, I made the decision to go into becoming who I’m going to be forever without a removal van full of my old junk. I miss everything about my past, the good and the bad, but only because it won’t come back. When I was in it I wanted out! So typical. I’m on about being a teenager, sitting around and chatting ****, not caring about the future because it didn’t matter then like it does now. The ability to be flippant about everything and there be no consequences. Even following and breaking rules ... is better than making the rules. 25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realising. And I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.

Love Adele

Adele has spoken about some of the issues she faced when making her third album 25.

The singer opened up about her fears that it would never be finished on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw this morning (October 23).

"I felt like this was never going to happen, and I was never going to finish this record," she revealed. "It was a long process and I wanted to give up. I thought I'd run out of ideas and lost my ability to write a song.

"My team around me are so amazing. They were very honest saying, 'It's not good enough'. It's important that people are like that."

Despite her initial doubts, Adele added that she is now "excited for people to hear the album", especially a favourite track of hers, 'When We Were Young'.

Whatever the success of the album though, don't expect the singer to be spending too much time in the spotlight.

"I find fame quite frightening and really toxic," she noted. "It's very charming and very persuasive, but also it doesn't last.

"Why do you want to get involved in something which you'll miss so much? And it always goes."

She did, however, admit that one thing has changed - her choice of supermarket: "I shop at Waitrose these days... I still love you Tesco!"

Iceman
23-10-2015, 01:20 PM
Adele has explained how she managed to keep the biggest comeback of the year a secret.

Talking on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw for the world premiere of 'Hello', the singer revealed that even the people who knew about it didn't have all the facts.

Adele's new album 25: Everything you need to know from release date to collaborations

"I kept giving people the wrong date, because I wanted it to be a secret," said Adele.

"We've been sitting on it for a little while, not forever as I only mastered the album a few weeks ago.

"There's been 5 people doing 300 peoples' jobs. Now it's done, we can hand it over."

Adele teased fans with a surprise 30 second clip of the track during Sunday night's X Factor, and thinks more people could benefit from a similarly low-key approach.

"I think everyone could have a moment if they didn't share everything all the time," she explained.

"The only reason people have reacted how they have is because I haven't done anything else [since 'Skyfall']. I've been doing other things, but I want to surprise people.

"I don't want to say something for the sake of it. I've had nothing to say, so why am I going to say

Grimshaw also jokingly raised the possibility of a 'Hello'-off with Lionel Ritchie, and it's fair to say Adele is keen.

"We've got to do something, me and Lionel. Lionel, I'm putting it out there. That'd be amazing."

Adele's third album 25 is released on November 20 but you may not have to wait that long to hear her new songs.

The singer-songwriter will perform tracks from the record alongside songs from her first two albums on a one-hour Adele at the BBC special hosted by Graham Norton, which will be recorded on November 2.

Adele said: "I can't wait for the show. The BBC has been wonderful to me over the years and Graham and I get on great so it's going to be a laugh."

Norton added: "This is the music event of the year and I'm thrilled to be part of bringing it to BBC One.

"This opportunity to spend an hour with Adele, her music and her stories is a truly rare treat. If I wasn't hosting this special I'd be sat at home watching it!"

Adele's already sold 500 thousand preorders of 25!

Adele has been breaking records left and right!
And with 25's release right around the corner, it seems the British beauty is gearing up to shatter some more! The pop princess has reportedly sold almost 500 thousand preorders of the highly-anticipated album!
Last month, Billboard explained that industry professionals were predicting that the 27-year-old could sell 1.3-1.8 million copies in the record's first week.
Video: The NFL HIGHlariously Spoofed Adele's Hello!
But now, Chart News is anticipating that the reigning chart champion will sell between 2 and 2.5 million albums during it's debut!
It posted:

If the soulful singer does, in fact, sell 2.5 million copies, she'll have dethroned both Britney Spears' and *NSYNC's titles!
The pop princess currently holds the top spot for the biggest debut week for a female artist, having sold 1.32 million copies of Oops… I Did It Again in 2000.
That same year, the boy band became the record-holder for best first-week sales of all time, after selling 2.4 million albums of No Strings Attached

Adele is carrying on her world domination, with her new album 25 becoming the fastest-selling album in the US 'ever' (meaning since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991).

In just over three days, the singer has shifted 2.43 million copies, smashing the previous record for first-week sales set by *NSYNC, according to Billboard.

The boyband sold 2.41m copies of No Strings Attached during its first week back in 2000, but she has passed that number with no problem.

But the decline in album sales make Adele's numbers all the more impressive, adjusted for inflation, if the climate was still the same now as it was back then 25 would have sold around 8,000,000 in one week, yes Britney set the record, but somebody set it before her (the highest first week sales for a female) and now Adele has broke it

I agree with this but Britney's was also impressive, going back to the point I made about the lack of online presence, she probably got all those sales through TV adverts, or a billboard here or there. 15 years later the industry has completely changed, yes there is a decline in sales, but promotion wise (digital and online) has increased immensely.

But she didn't have massive online promo the only real promo she had was the XF advert, and it doesn't really matter how much promo you do if people don't want to buy an album then they won't, they'll stream it or illegally download it, Britney never had that issue

There was little doubt she’d storm to Number 1, but today the Official Charts Company can confirm that Adele’s 25 is the biggest Number 1 album ever.

The highly anticipated album sold a staggering 800,307 copies this week, giving her the highest opening week sales in Official Chart history, beating Oasis’ previous record with Be Here Now (who sold 696,000 in their debut chart week, though it was released on a Thursday so only registered three days of sales).

It’s been an incredible week for Adele. To put the sales figures into context, 25 has sold more than the rest of the Top 75 combined this week (the next 86 albums, to be precise) AND more than the last 19 Number 1 albums in the UK combined also. Its total sales figure this week means it already receives a 2x Platinum certification by the BPI.

MORE: Check out this week's Top 100 Official Albums Chart

As well as having one of the biggest first day sales totals ever, 25 is also the most downloaded Number 1 album ever, shifting an incredible 252,423 digital copies this week. Click here to find out more about Adele's week on the Official Chart.

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company comments: “The massive impact of 25 this week marks the moment that Adele has transformed herself from a phenomenon of our age to an all-time great. The statistics surrounding the album are staggering, topped by the simple fact that no album has ever sold 800,000 copies to reach Number 1 in the history of British music.

“What the future holds for 25 will unfold over the coming weeks and months, of course – but we can all be absolutely sure that more records will be toppled as Adele fever grips the nation in the run-up to Christmas

We had an inkling, but Adele's 25 now officially has the UK's highest opening-week sales for an album... ever.

The singer's first album in nearly five years has shifted a massive 800,307 copies this week alone to claim the top spot in tremendous style.

Justin Bieber's 'Sorry' is No.1 for another week as he matches Madonna's chart record
In fact, 25's sold more than the last 19 No.1 albums put together, and more than the rest of this week's Top 75 combined.

Bet those elusive friends will be answering Adele's calls now, eh?

On top of that, the album's already gone 2x Platinum and managed the most downloads in a week of all time.

Adele's also seemingly given the rest of the music market a generous boost, with sales across the remainder of the Top 40 climbing 21% compared to last week, and 145% compared to average sales across the last ten weeks.

Adele's official numbers are in, and they are historic.
Adele's new album, "25," sold 3.38 million copies during its first week in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.

That number is unprecedented. Adele beat the previous single sales-week record, held by *NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" from 2000, by nearly a million copies.

Adele's "25" was released on November 20 and has taken the music industry by storm. It is already the top selling album of the year.

"Back in 2000 when *NSYNC set the record for album sales in a week, the album was the dominant form of music consumption," said David Bakula, senior vice president of insights at Nielsen Music. "In 2000, there were 785 million albums sold in the U.S. and in 2015 we will likely see around 250 Million albums sold

It's underrated because people are comparing it to 21 but it's still great music

19 is still her best album and Hometown Glory her best song tbh. Still a solid album though.

As reported on Dec. 5, Adele’s 25 album rules the Billboard 200 chart for a second week. The set earned 1.16 million equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 3 (down 67 percent), according to Nielsen Music. Of that figure, 1.11 million were in pure album sales (dipping 67 percent as well).

Adele's '25' Sells 1.11 Million in Second Week in U.S.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Dec. 19-dated chart (where Adele is No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

In its first two weeks on sale, 25 sold 4.49 million copies. A week ago, the set blasted onto the Billboard 200 chart with 3.48 million equivalent album units — with 3.38 million of those in pure album sales.

To put the 4.49 million sales figure in perspective: 30 percent of all albums sold in the U.S. in the last two weeks have been 25 (4.49 million of the 14.8 million total copies sold).

Also, 25 remains No. 1 on the Digital Albums chart for a second frame, as it sold another 236,000 downloads for the week. Its two-week digital sales tally stands at 1.88 million. It is now the third-largest selling digital album ever (jumping ahead of the 1.77 million of Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More). Adele already has the top selling digital album ever: 21, with 3.19 million. Taylor Swift’s 1989 is the second biggest selling digital set, with 2.31 million.

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 chart is Justin Bieber’s former No. 1, Purpose. It holds at No. 2 for a second week, shifting 211,000 units (down 27 percent).

Pentatonix’s holiday effort That’s Christmas to Me jumps 6-3 with 94,000 units. The album was released in 2014, finished that year as the top selling Christmas set, and was recently reissued with bonus tracks in time for the 2015 holiday season.

Adele's 'Hello' Is Now a No. 1 Dance Hit, Too

One Direction’s Made in the A.M. slips one rung to No. 4 (82,000 units; down 25 percent) while Swift’s 1989 climbs 11-5 with 60,000 units (up 56 percent). 1989’s jump is owed in part to a significant gain in digital sales for the set: up 154 percent to 23,000 downloads for the week. 1989 was one of a number of sale-priced titles promoted in the iTunes Store during the tracking week, capitalizing on the Black Friday shopping holiday (Nov. 27, which was also the first day of the most recent tracking week). 1989 and other titles (like Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller and Fetty Wap’s self-titled set) were discounted to $6.99 for a limited time.

The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness falls 5-6 on the new Billboard 200 with 60,000 units (down 6 percent), Underwood’s Storyteller vaults 14-7 (48,000 units; up 51 percent) and Fetty Wap’s eponymous album climbs 10-8 (47,000 units; up 21 percent).

Michael Buble’s former No. 1 album, Christmas, returns to the top 10, as it rises 28-9 (41,000 units; up 77 percent). The album, which was released in 2011 and spent five weeks atop the list, has returned to the top 10 in every subsequent holiday season.

The Now 56 compilation closes out the top 10, as it ascends 12-10 with 40,000 units (up 7 percent).
