You're joking about Leona, right?

It would be an absolute farce if she won.

A) The song is ****.
B) It's a cover.
C) She's been around a month. There are much more deserving people of a Brit.

Being nominated is a joke. Winning would be a disgrace.

Breakthrough Act? Fratellis? They've been rolling about for ages! Henrietta was released 2005! They should be in with the Best British Groups section!

Of course you are. I'm sure the majority agrees that she doesn't deserve it though.

Seen as this is down to public vote, she'll probably walk it.

Where's Will? :conf:

'Keep On' has sold more copies in the past year than any of these artists' albums. Over 920,000 copies plus downloads. And he's had a bigger Arena Tour than any of them.

Oh, I forgot. He's not 'cool and credible' with the Industry Bods who decide who's worthy of being nominated.

Whatever.

Shocking, isn't it?

You Will fans should rally together and help him win Best Single, Kaz. I can think of at least one nominee in that category he's better than.

Personally I think Bellowhead should be in the act section. They were great on Later with Jules Holland. An amazing sound and one of the best live acts in the country. Probably not pop enough I guess.

But she won't have Simon Cowell voting on speed dial! Damn... all them votes.

I don't think she's done enough to win, she won the competition (dubiously) and released one song... not exactly prolific material.

Not doing enough is not going to stop her winning. Look at how many fans she has on here who will be speed dialing too.

Why isn't Leo Sayer on the Brit awards list this year, his been in a reality TV show or are they waiting for his next hit single "Where's my pants Big Brother"!

I actually agree with that.

Pop isn't as prominent as it used to be but it's still quite strong. It's foolish and ignorant of them to not include the Best Pop category.

Shocking choices for Best British Female. Is that the best of the bunch?

The UK has been lacking any real female solo artists since Annie Lennox.

The thing is, British female solo artists are just basing themselves on Norah Jones, i.e. they're going for more chilled out laid-back vocals and overwhelming orchestral backing music. Look at the candidates, I can obviously tell the difference between them but Corinne Bailey Rae, Amy Winehouse and Nerina Pallot are practically identical in singing abilities. I detest Lily, but I concede that she's got something going for her. Out of the candidates, I'd only ever consider picking Jamelia for an award and even then... I'm sure we used to have far stronger singers in that category. Shocking...
