18 year old Michelle Carter is on trial in a juvenile court in Massachusetts. Here's an Independent article (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/michelle-carter-teenager-pressured-boyfriend-to-kill-himself-by-sending-him-hundreds-of-text-messages-10481266.html) about the case.

And here are just a selection of the messages (https://www.bizarrepedia.com/charged-with-suicide/) she sent to him in the week preceding his death.

One of the most disturbing things I've ever read. This girl is a psychopath :umm2:

evil ****ing bitch this is seriously one of the most shocking things I've ever read, she could have saved him but instead she hounded him until he did what she wanted.

If she is sent to prison I hope she is in solitary confinement forever and NEVER allowed accesss to a computer, unattended phone calls or letters. She is honestly pure evil

im not even surprised..even though this is an extreme example, this sick selfie loving, materialistic society obsessed with vanity greed appearance, is packed with narcissistic psychos like her...where her public image is all that counts...she feels nothing, but must get attention and reward.....young men are infinitely more vulnerable immature and at risk of suicide and this evil twat murdered him. she deserves the death penalty

Poor lad, she could have made such a difference to the outcome if she had only tried a bit of human decency and helped him.
His parents must be heartbroken, he sounds like he was such a loving family member, getting ice cream for his sisters and worrying how his actions would affect his loved ones.
The girl needs help, something seriously wrong with her.

why should the state pay for her to get help though. surely a murderer like that is better off taking her own advice and being put down

Jesus Christ :o

What kind of sicko does this?? ****ing hell she's vile! She not only didn't help him in his time of need but she also encouraged him and pressured him into taking his own life what a horrid creature. She should be done for murder not "involuntary manslaughter"

Vanessa

She's a monster and should have got life. :omgno:

There was nothing 'involuntary' about her actions - they were deliberate, cruel and calculating, and persistent, and she should be facing a murder charge.

Nedusa

Glad these messages were made public and the woman was exposed as an evil cow who probably convinced this young man to end his life.

But telling someone to kill themself is not a crime and as much as one would want to see her pay for her evil messages she did not actually harm him or cause his death. so I think any charges will be fought off and she will walk free.

but the damage to her and her relationships with her family and friends is long lasting and permanent, she probably needs psychiatric care at the least as her behaviour is psychopathic.

A sad case all round.

It's not murder I mean if someone told you to kill yourself would you... If they told you a 1,000 times would that make any difference, probably not

I would probably kill the idiot who kept saying this

This is disgusting. Possibly the one person he trusted was getting upset that he hadn't done it yet. I hope she gets years behind bars. So sad.

..yeah it really is awful because by his texts, he obviously wasn't committed to ending his life and very lost in his confusion and thinking she understood and believed in him.../she must be a very mentally ill young lady..but I really do think she needs help rather than prison though ...

Oh my god.. that's so awful!! How could you exploit someone with obviously poor mental health like that, and why??

Idk this whole "involunary manslaughter" bs, it's murder. It's her fault that they died.

Firewire
03-09-2015, 04:24 PM
It's not her direct fault (so not murder) but she did encourage him and could've saved him.

I remember reading about it at the time, i truly believe without her 'encouragement' the guy would still be with us today. He doubted it so many times in those texts, yet she pressured him into 'not being silly' and that he 'should just do it'.

Evil, evil ****.

I agree Jason.

15 months, 5 years on probation. Which is what she should've spent inside IMO.

Pending appeal

Honestly I think she's probably more of a danger to the public than a lot of murderers who are in jail for doing the deed themselves. Many killers murder someone in a fit of rage and immediately regret their actions and are devastated. This girl coldly and methodically convinced this guy to kill himself. It would be one thing if she didn't realise how serious it was and thought he would never go through with it but she was still encouraging him as he was actually dying. And it sounds like it was essentially because of the status and attention she would get in her "grief". His life was absolutely nothing to her but a means to an end. That shows some quite serious sociopathy.

Yeaah if a guy did this I'm 99% sure he would have been punished way worse.

OT: The fact that it's only 15 months doesn't shock me, as she wasn't there when he killed himself. But she definetly should be held accountable, she clearly played a part in this. In fact I actually think she's mentally unstable and could benefit from psychotherapy.
