I don't think it's as simple as that. Sexuality allegations aren't just something you shake off, it generally does make you paranoid because you feel like people don't trust you.

I don't see this at all the producers didn't show James spooning Austin in bed that would have been a major part of the story line if they were trying to portray them as falling for each other.
