I don't think saying it with a laugh or using hypotheticals really makes a difference in the end. And she made the comments with much less provocation.

Context is always important, and in this case she was airing her annoyance, it wasn't a threat. Words on their own mean nothing. For example, you could easily say, I love you, with a knife in your hand ready to stab someone

There's a difference between having a wild, unprovoked rant in which you threaten violence for no reason whatsoever (though of course I don't believe he would have ever actually done it), and saying you'd attack someone if they assaulted your pet (again, I fail to believe she actually would but frankly, would anyone blame someone for doing so? I certainly wouldn't).

Well I would have personally said that both comments crossed the line, I don't think it's okay to stab someone if they harmed your pet. :shrug: I also believe neither of them would have done these things, but to me it just screams double standards. I wouldn't have called Conor's rant 'unprovoked' either, it was a build up of anger that he was waiting to release.

My main point is that any 'aggressive' type of language used should result in some sort of warning imo, no matter what the context it was used in. The same applies for Daniel's 'cut her throat' comment about Janice, despite it being a figure of speech as it could be seen as offensive.
