View Full Version : Helen to appear on Banzai
Here's a post from LEE, she's having a few problems logging on so i said i'd post for her
There is a new series of Banzai starting on E4 next Thursday, 27th March, and according to the TV section of Hotstars magazine Helen is going to be in it. The way they phrase it makes it sound as though she might be a regular as well
Here's what it says.....
"New series of the bizarre gambling show.....ex-Big Brother housemate Helen Adams debuts as Lady One Answer."
There's a really nice pic as well.

LEE has also found this pic of Helen in this weeks 'Sneak' Magazine.
See there are advantages to her buying teenage mags to find pics of Darius

This is all good news! I must admit, I have only managed to sit through about 5 mins of Banzai in the past, but if Helen is a regular, that would be reason enough to look again! :hello::colour::thumbs::colour::hello:
Yay, after trying for the last couple of hours I have finally managed to get into TiBB.
Thanks for posting the pics up for me Amy, you are a star.
I know what you mean about Banzai ROB, it's not my cup of tea either, but if Helen is going to be on there I will just have to put up with it.

Oh My God - I hate that programme - well I used to, but if Helen is going to be in it then its a definite on my list.
Nice to see that the media havent completely forgotten her. Now all we need is some good news, say in Heat.:devil:

I hope it isn't to awful or humiliating. I found this about Lady One Question:
How long is Mr. Handshakingman able to shake <random celebrity>'s hand. Is it a) 0-30 seconds, b) 30-60 seconds c) 60-90 s, d) 90-120s or e) 120 and more s. You then get a few seconds to place your bets, and then the answer is revealed. The longest I've seen was him shaking Thora Birch's hand for almost 3 minutes, while interviewing her about a movie and turning away after each question and translating what she said into japanese.
A slight variation on Mr. Handshakingman is Lady One-Question. She asks someone one question and when he/she's done answering, she just keeps that same facial expression and doesn't ask any further question. So how long until <celebrity> walks away
Can you imagine Helen keeping quiet???
Excellent news! :colour::hello::colour: And those pictures are lovely - glad to see THE ring still in place.
It's been far too long since Helen was on TV - Lorraine Kelly's got a lot to answer for.
I've never watched Banzai before either, rachb - but I'll definitely be tuning in if Helen is to be a regular. You're right though, ROB - I think she'll find it a real struggle to just ask one question and then say nothing more.
Go Helen!!
It says she debuts as 'Lady One Answer' which must be a new character. Maybe she answers the same thing to anything she's asked. :conf:
Don't really know though, we'll have to wait and see.

I hate the program I think it is pathetic  But like the rest of you I will be watching just to see Helen.
I wish she could be given a better show to appear on.
She has such an easy manner and dosn't show off in front of the camera.
You never know though, if a producer see's her once more ,she might just jog a few memories of how good she is.

I've never watched Banzai but I, too, will be tuning in on a regular basis if Helen is going to be on it every week.
Lovely photos, Amy and LEE. She looks just as happy and bubbly as ever.
It will be so nice to see her again.

Is Helen to be Lady One Answer or is she to be interviewed by her. They used to have a Japanese person doing it, like Mr Shaky-hands man.
Anyone remember Dean's appearance on Banzai?
If you don't like Banzai it could be a bit embarrassing.

I must admit James, I was worried about that too. Not to mention the fact that even as a regular, sharing the bill with Jimmy 'Whirlwind' White, and Eric '180' Bristow, not to mention the Krankies  isn't exactly fandabydosie.........we'll just have to wait and see.

The Helen we all love could NEVER keep quiet for more than a few seconds.
Is she going to just have the same question to ask or answer each week or will it change. We will just have to wait and see.
Perhaps they could involve Paul :devil:
Its really a rubbish programme and I hate to see Helen reduced to being on this, but lets hope someone sees her and realises she is still around and puts her in something decent. She was so natural on Lorraine and was just herself.
How did they let her go into semi-oblivion.

Do U think they'll show it on channel 4 for us poor people?

20-03-2003, 02:36 PM
they will repeat it on c4.
i feel shell be the one being interviewed, as ive seen this lady 1 question before and she is japanese, as is all the main people on there. i hope they dont make her look too stupid.
the programme is quite crude
there seems to be somewhat of a resurgence in helens media fortunes recently!!
i dont think shell ever completely disappear from national media cos shes just so likeable!
by the way- what do u reckon she does with her days?

I've got a feeling that people are going to like this programme too much.
Banzai don't treat the celebrities they have on it with that much respect. They only ever get has-beens doing silly stunts.
And Helen's strong point is her personality, so being silent is not exactly playing to that.
Does anyone think that these two threads are relevant?

James, that was EXACTLY what I have been thinking as well.
I am uncomfortable about the whole thing. I know most of the shows regulars are Japanese, but there is Peter Purves
http://www.ukgameshows.com/atoz/programmes/b/banzai/banzai_5.jpg as the 'Prince of Satanic Darkness' as an exception I suppose.
I really hope Helen hasn't taken this as a last desperate gasp to stay on TV. In many ways I would be relieved to see her just being briefly embarassed as a target.
The problem about Banzai is, although I find it pretty grim, it is apparently very popular.
Not a lot we can do but wait and see. If the link to the Bitches column is correct, it was certainly filmed a long time ago.

To be honest i think hellen appearing on Banzai is an absoulty awful thing! all they do is take the mick out of non a-class celebs! I feel that Helen's representation on this will be VERY bad and none of you will like it. I mean for example she is going to be on a show where Rik Waller is being tested on how many pies or cakes (don't know which food) he can fit in his mouth!
Does anyone else agree with this?

What does she do with her days - well a woman's work is never done is it?
What with cleaning the flat, doing the washing, ironing clothes, chatting on the phone, shopping, practising her cooking and making herself look beautiful for Paul when he comes home I doubt very much if she has much time left!
Of course there is always the odd lunch with friends to catch up on the gossip.

There was no way I was going to miss tonight's episode of Banzai but it really was dreadful. Never mind, at least we saw Helen and she looks as lovely as ever.
I did feel sorry for the poor reporter. She turned bright red, bless her little cotton socks. I do hope someone explained it all to her later.
Does anyone know if Helen is going to be on this show every week or if it was a "one off"?

Last night's Banzai reminded me what a truly awful programme it really is.
What a waste of our Helen. Half the time you couldn't see her. I did wonder how she managed to keep a straight face for so long without bursting into laughter. That poor reporter.
In a way I hope she doesnt become a regular - and that from someone who loves any little sight of our Helen.
BTW did anyone pick up at the end when they said that perhaps it could be a regular but that they could find a bigger celebrity such as Posh Spice.
::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
How dare they.
peachy
28-03-2003, 10:08 AM
I have decided that even though I love Helen to bits, even if she's a regular I will never endure another 20 minutes of that utter drivel. I might tape it and whizz through to Helen but actually watching it should be made a criminal offence.
I thought the whole thing was embarrassing. Poor Helen, reduced to that load of old tosh, and I never thought I'd feel sorry for 'wee Jimmy Krankie' either.

28-03-2003, 11:55 AM
i wouldnt take it so seriously.
i must say i dont know how helen kept a straight face tho.
i couldnt look- cringeworthy.
also she was lady one answer, not lady one question.
mustve been filmed ages ago!!
does anyone know who the women who took her away was?
poor helen:blush:

I am not as worried about it as I thought I might be. A mere bagatelle. I am sure Helen was aware of the nature of it, and it probably put a few quid in her back pocket. We don't like the programme, but it is the sort of irreverent tosh which appeals to many.
I doubt if it is a regular feature, and the one good thing is that it has made the Bitches/3am girls, whichever it was, look a bit silly, albeit in hindsight.
Let's hope Helen's next appearance is a bit more substantial.

Helen's appearance in this was probably better than I thought it would be, really. At least she was the one doing the mickey-taking instead of being on the end of the joke (I think).
Anyway, I don't if anyone is interested, given the comments about the show, but here is a picture gallery of Helen on this show.
(BTW you can't see Helen in some of the pictures very well because my satellite receiver is setup not to show the picture in widescreen)

That is the bracelet that first appeared on the morning of her birthday last year. We thought it was probably a gift from Paul. There was also a necklace to match both with hearts
