A woman who filmed herself torturing and maiming small animals for the sexual gratification of viewers has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Ashley Nicole Richards, 24, from Houston, Texas, admitted to four counts of creating 'animal crush' videos and one film distribution charge in one of the first cases of its kind in the United States.

In the films, a scantily clad Richards, sometimes masked, can be seen stabbing the helpless animals – including a puppy, a kitten and a chicken.

She would sometimes chop off their limbs and urinate on them while making sexual comments to the camera.

According to The Houston Chronicle, in one of the videos seen by authorities Richards punctured a cat's eye with a shoe heel.

Richards and Brent Justice, 54, were the first two people to be charged under the Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act, signed by Barack Obama in 2010.

In the “puppy2” video, which is more than 13 minutes in length, Richards is seen torturing and killing a blue Pit Bull-mix puppy in a kitchen. The defenseless dog’s mouth is closed with duct tape and he struggles as Richards strikes the dog numerous times with a meat cleaver. In the video, Richards chops off one of the puppy’s paws, then hacks at his head and neck. Richards is later seen severing the dog’s head and urinating on its body.

What's REALLY worrying, is that there's people out there paying to see it, and actually getting themselves off watching it. Those are the ones I'd definitely lock up. Not that I wouldn't lock this freak up too, just saying, for anyone who gets a sexual thrill from seeing an animal being tortured, there's a serious risk that they're going to take that to the next level themselves.

This whole business is incredible and sickening, but I agree that there MUST be a considerable demand for this evil for her to be making these despicable videos - and THAT is what IS worrying.

Yeah like.Before the internet you'd see the odd mass murderer or canibal on the news and think these kind of people were just a tiny minority of mentally deranged psycopaths but when you find out that there is actually a market for things like what this woman did,You realise that it's not as much of a minority as you first imagined.

Yeah I know and not just this stuff but all the paedophiles and that as well, I used to think that it was pretty rare but it's seems to be rampant in our society, scary stuff. Yeah like it really highlights a massive lack of empathy within these people as well. You could make excuses for people and say that they can't help it if they find a kid attractive but they can help acting on that when they know they're probably ****ing up this childs whole life just so they can get some sexual gratification

That reminds me of an episode of 24 Hours In Police Custody i watched.They showed one in an interview.He just coldly came out with it like it was normal.Seemed to have no empathy for all the victims on the videos he'd been watching.Sickening.
