After last night i put SN&D on ignore, but I've just realised now i can't see the news articles

Would it be possible to just have subform for the debates, and then have serious news as the main forum, I know the news topics generally turn into debates/discussions but it's never as frustrating as general debates

Is it possible please?

(and before people say just don't read it, you didn't have to read this thread and comment so :nono:

It's like when you're driving past a car crash you don't want to look, but you just have too, and then you wish you hadn't and want to stick your head in a blender

I don't know I think there's too much overlap between debates and news that it's a bit awkward to separate them. That was the reason that Serious Debates was changed to include news a few years ago instead of having 'news' as a sub forum in general chat

Well it's not really separating them, seeing as it'd be the same forum, just a sub forum, it'd just make more sense than having threads debating porn adultery and "heterophobia" in the same place

It is separating them for all intents and purposes though, I don't think it would always be clear when a thread should be posted in news and when it should be posted in the debates when a lot of the time news stories are posted so that they do generate debates

Just because Niamh removed the insulting comment you made about another user, doesn't mean it's been wiped from history.

I'm not I don't think it's very fair that sweeping statements can be made without some evidence to back it up.

I think it's quite clear tho, a debate is generally a question posed to everyone whereas news topics are news topics, if that leads to a debate about the topic fair enough that's what they're generally for, but debating porn is obviously not news

Not but it's a debate that could be prompted by a news story on say the government tightening porn laws. I get that there are some debates which aren't related to news stories like ones on religion but most of the time I think news and debates are pretty connected. Looking at the first page of SD now things like 'Merkel: hero or villain' is a debate but its prompted by current news, as is Josh's thread on 'what do you think about companies raising prices to pay for the newer minimum wage', the thread on Corbyn not singing the national anthem, the one on the Greek elections, the one on MI5 seeking more powers etc.

Well said, there seems to be some kind of uprising against SD... what's the problem, has the rest of the forum gotten so boring that there has to be initiated some form of drama, would something happening in a subforum you aren't interested in affect you so much? :/
This thread seems to have been created as a response to the deleted thread from yesterday to me, to keep the silliness going.

It's not silliness, it's just people who don't share the same opinion as you.
