The American's high pay is understandable considering they have to get visas and move to a different country/clear schedules for the length of the series because they don't know how long they're gonna be in there. Austin, even tho he's on the USA side, lives in Huddersfield. The UK housemates don't need as much I don't think as they can go back to anything they want to after leaving. (Unless they're major celebs like Pricey for example - she deserved high pay because she's such a big name who brought in nearly 4 million viewers on entering).

It also proves that status doesn't really matter either. Janice was fave to win the minute she walked in on Day 2 and ended up being beaten by Austin who was pretty much unknown.

You're right about CBB8, Paddy beat Jedward and Katona. I genuinely believe everyone bar Katie Price won based on how they were on CBB. Price's fanbase was too big for anyone to stop her. But everyone else won CBB based on their behaviour IN the house. Things like Alex Reid beating Vinnie Jones in CBB7, Shilpa in CBB5 over all the others. A non celeb in CBB4. Bez In CBB3 etc...

I think yet again people should think about CBB history when the rumours come in for next Jan and people say "but they are not even celebrities", more often than not, the unknowns will be better quality.
