Australia has been involved in the bombing for a few weeks now. The time to leave Syria to it has passed...

Seems like a job well done.Terrorist training camp wiped out with no civvy casualties.I think once we've delt with ISIS we may aswell take out Assad while we're there and let Syria start over.

Yes thats very good.
Assad will remain in control
all agree on that.
As it would not start over
without a leader.
It would go like Libya

Yes but Assad is going to have to step down.
I'm with Cameron on this. Remove ISIS and then deal with Assad.

Yep, the Russians are the scary part in all of this.
Not really, they have never made any bones about the fact they support the Assad government. The West are finally starting to accept that he might have to stay in power and that the alternative to Assad is likely to be worse: that has been the Russian line from the start.

I hear that the russian air force are bombing isis now, and are building a new air base in syria, this will help the syrian army push the isis scum back.

Haha!Touche!
Iraq's a work in progress:laugh:
May aswell sling a few bombs Assads way while we're there.Save on Jet and warship fuel for when we undoubtedly go back.Which we will. The ball is already rolling and the idea has already been put before us to soften us up for when it happens so it's not so much of a shock.
If ISIS was'nt in the picture and Russia not stepping up support for the regime then i think by now we'd already be bombing Assad or very close to it.It has just been delayed.

Yes but i would bet that ISIS is not the only reason Russia wants a base in Syria. It's all part of the geo-political game of chess between East and West and the Russians are very good at chess!

Most of it is when it comes down to it. Afghanistan in the 80's was a tinderbox for all of this and it was essentially a big Russia / US dick swinging thing.

The west would be foolhardy to bring about the fall of Asad whilst Russia brings about the fall of IS.
The US are playing a game of chess with Russia and in doing so, its the US, not Russia that could bring about massive long-term civil conflict in Syria. :(
