Thoughts?

Mass murderer Anders Breivik has threatened to starve himself to death over the apparent worsening of his prison conditions.

Breivik, 36, is currently serving 21 years in prison for killing 77 people in 2011 after he detonated a bomb outside a government building in Oslo and opened fire at a political youth camp on Utøya island.

According to The Local, Breivik sent a letter to Norwegian and Swedish press which says that, since September 2nd, he has been confined to a single cell which he can only leave for one hour a day.

He also complains of being given less communication time with prison staff.

He wrote: “Unless the 02/09/15 escalation is reversed, I will eventually continue the hunger strike until death. I cannot stand anymore.”

Breivik said the “deterioration of prison conditions” has also forced him to abandon his university studies, which were “the only thing [he] had.”

The prisoner was admitted a place on a political science degree at Oslo University in July this year, allowing him to study from his cell but prohibiting any contact with staff or students.

His lawyer is currently taking legal action against the Norweigan state over his client’s prison conditions. He confirmed Breivik will go “on hunger strike until death,” according to The Local.

Breivik is currently serving the maximum amount of sentence time allowed under Norwegian law, however this could be prolonged if he is considered a threat to the public at the end of his sentence.

If he goes on hunger strike, deny him water. Don't want him hanging around dying for weeks, lets get it over with.

We have a Norwegian friend who's son was murdered by Breivik in the summer camp massacre. This sort of news is going to be very difficult for him to cope with.

This man should be allowed no rights whatsoever. If he wishes to commit suicide then let him.

They shouldn't be feeding him in the first place, let him rot, he should count his lucky stars that he hasn't been executed.

From what I understand, it sounds like he's complaining about being in what I assume to be Maximum security conditions? Considering his crimes it's not exactly heavy handed for him to be denied privileges.

Let him starve himself until he gets bored, he's just throwing a tantrum over pretty justifiable living conditions for his crimes.

If he dies it's suicide.
