View Full Version : Elocution lessons?

Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if Shilpa actually told Jade to get elocution lessons?
I only saw her tell Jade to learn some manners (and elsewhere I've seen it said she said 'etiquette' not 'elocution')
Not a crucial point, but it's bugging me

I didnt hear her say that either.. maybe it was the way the edited the argument for the programme?

People think its trendy or endearing that Jade talks in that stupid way, deliberately fumbling over her words to make people think shes cute.
Its a sign of ignorance and disrespect that someone cant be ARS*D to learn how to communicate.
Jade Goodys life motto. Be ignorant and disrespectful cause no-one can stop you doing it.

Why psylocke, your post on "Jade supporters" was not very nice .."clearly stupid" , now that would be making a judgement on one aspect, of a person/people you know absolutely nothing about ... Pretty much as Jade & co have done to Shilpa
Resulting to insults is pretty unnecassary.

I don't think it's "trendy" to talk that way , but I wouldn't say it is a sign of ignorance or disrespect.
If someone is brought up in a way that that is the way in which they communicate it is not a reflection on their character and they should not be put down for it.

I don't believe her behaviour should be supported I only defend her in terms of the racist allegations..
If you were only referring to those who support her behaviour towards Shilpa (bullying) then I do apologise..
If not then it's pretty stupid to imply I am stupid because you don't know jack about me.

Of course it is in her character. Jade refuses to communicate in the proper English language, when she is surrounded by English speaking people. Jade has had her entire life to learn how to speak properly, but does she do it? No, does she ******, because it doesnt suit her.
It is a character trait. Not up-bringing.

Given that it came in the middle of a big rant about how Shilpa was a liar, not very impressive that Jade was wrong about that. It makes a big difference in the context of people talking about whether or not one side is mocking the others' accent.
I never heard Shilpa mention elecution lessons. I'm suprised Jade even knew what they are!

She did not make it up, it was said.
It is not even that big a deal, Jade was dishing out some pretty nasty comments herself.

Maybe I am mis-understanding what you are referring to , lets make it clear, do you generally just mean her "cockney" way of talking (as that is what I was defending)
As that is what I interpreted from "proper English"
I think I am mistaken.
