Sensitive subject I know, but one some of us are unfortunately familiar with.
Have you ever contemplated taking your own life? If not what are your views on those that have?

LOL Marsh... you crack me up.
I have never considered taking my own life. I count myself lucky not to suffer from depression, and get so low you want to end it all.

I've never considered suicide, and I feel really sorry for people who have.

I have suffered from depression in the past and sadly it's one of those things that is always lingering around, waiting to bite. I still have down days. But suicide is too easy. I get through the bad days so I can cherish the good days.

I do not like the WebSites that Trick the Young to Top themselves.
I do not care if someone does it private.

I have never attempted to take my own life but i have thought about it when i was going through a dark time. I hate when people say "don't be stupid" about it..

I have not considered it but have contemplated what would happen if I was in that situation. Overall I have a negative view on suicide though, my father apparently drowned himself, on his 33rd birthday, in the river which passes through the city I grew up in. I was 3 years and 4 months old at the time. I was lied to about how he died until my mid teens, once I found out the truth it was very confusing, not having a father had a hugely negative impact on my life and to think he put me and four siblings through that purposefully seems like a very selfish thing, something I can't comprehend or understand. So I don't think I would take my own life, I won't make the same mistake. :) I don't love life but I am going to live and make what I can of it.
I don't really understand what there is to discuss about it unless people want to share personal stuff?
Suicide is a sad thing done by people who have reached complete and utter breaking point and feel there is no help left for them and no I've never considered it.

I've considered it twice. I've overdosed once.

I wouldn't consider it and feel sorry for those who feel there is no other option.
However the ones who really get me mad are those who emotionally blackmail others by threatening suicide if they don't get what they want.

I attempted suicide at 15, but to be honest, at 15 i had no concept of death. I imagined i'd be a ghost or move on to some other realm and learn the secrets of the universe. i had no concept of the truth about death, that it's just oblivion. Children really can't understand the concept of oblivion, just not existing. Now as a 33 y/o man i'm terrified of death.

People who commit suicide are not in their right frame of mind, as normal people don't contemplate such a thing. That's why I hate it when people call people who have committed suicide selfish. Unless they were killing themselves to get out of going to jail, I highly doubt that they killed themselves to be vindictive. Something was obviously psychologically wrong.
I have no issue with euthanasia.

In a very dark time, I considered it would be easier if I was not here but didn't actually get to the point of actually considering suicide, I just thought life would be better for everyone if I just ceased to be (if that makes sense). Prior to that, I admit I did feel that suicide was pretty selfish on loved ones left behind to contemplate but then I realised people who get to that point actually have no options left (or so they believe).
...ugghhh, such a mixture really..by very definition, it's the most selfish thing anyone can ever do but the place that person is in is so dark and so helpless that it's impossible for them to see beyond themselves and their emotional pain...sadly their pain ending is the beginning for the people who loved them..and if they have children, it's a pain that will never be healed and questions that will never be answered because no matter what the answers, how could they ever truly understand...'if I had been more helpful..'...'if I'm sad, will I die..'...'flowers would have made her happy and I had some for her as well/I should have given them yesterday...'....and all of the visual stuff as well, things children should never in their lives see, it's hard not to feel anger sometimes as well...
..anyways, such a mixture and confusion of feelings about it really...
When the sun is at its brightest but outside the skies are grey
When the words have choked inside you and there’s nothing left to say
When fear is armed and at the front line preparing to advance
When your chosen song is playing but your feet refuse to dance
When the orchestra is playing but comes crushing through your ears
When the world around is waltzing but you’re crippled in your fear
When life’s beggar stretches out his hand, there’s nothing left to give
When death grows more intriguing than the prison where you live
When you’re looking for tomorrow but it’s nowhere to be found
When you’re stuck within this moment and your arms and legs are bound
When you bathe in pools of tears and they incinerate your skin
When this game of life you’re playing is the one you’ll never win
When you’re seeking words of promise in the solace of the song
but the symphony won’t reach you on the tower you sit upon
When the prisoner inside you pleads for mercy to be shown
but the pleadings are unheeded as his flesh falls from the bone
When the wilderness consumes you and you lay your head to rest
And you sink into the wasteland as you terminate your quest
When the hostess of depression hands an invite to her lair
And your helpless desolation makes her certain to ensnare

Yeah, this is what I think about it too. I can only imagine how awful living with depression would be. I lost a very close friend to suicide and I feel bad that she was in such a bad place mentally that she felt suicide was the only way to free herself of it. I would never think she was selfish for doing it though

I've thought about it quite a lot, but never got as far as attempting it, for a person to commit suicide they're at their lowest point in life and have severe issues most of the time, I don't necessarily find the act itself selfish, more the after math of it, like how their body is discovered, knowing a loved one killed themselves would obviously be hard enough, but to have to find their body as well I think would be utterly devastating, so I'm torn about it really.

The act per se is incredibly selfish but people with such severe issues that would drive them to suicide deserve nothing but love and sympathy. It's not something you can rationalize or even begin to understand unless you've been in their shoes.
