Gated Communities work fine
Inequality is Normal

We Do not want to be all the same

I can have SkyHD, VirginHD
So can someone in a one bedroom flat

we can both watch SkyMoviesHD at the same time
on Friday - New movie Every week.

In Our Gated Communities
we need Honest Hard Workers
(from the middle and lower class)
to Guard our grounds.

I prefer it in LA
which has a outside sign on the High Fence
[Saying: Do not Enter : Armed Response]

But so much is being Built around London
Fantastic Tower Blocks by the River
Solid Security
And In the Chelsea Harbour
I can take a Ship /Boat To France

Aspirations are Essential in Life

Fantastic LT

I would set up Special Covert Electric Wires
in the water - so if anyone tried to go across it
I could turn it on.

I have delivery drivers call me so I can talk them in. No one is "just passing" where I live and that's the way I like it. If someone rocks up at my door they're either invited or they're lost.

Can't be long before burglars invest in in flippers and snorkels

Aspiration is important which is exactly why we shouldn't just be okay with inequality. Everyone deserves an equal shot at life, and if they fail we shouldn't just leave them to die.

Uz and them? Gated communities have always been around I guess, are they on the rise?
Maybe people don't feel safe, maybe because there's a PM saying WE'RE NOT SAAAAFFFFEEEEEEEE!!!!

How do you equate working hard and living behind gates?

Living in a gated community is not a measure of success in life. It is a lifestyle choice. I don't even see how it is being linked to inequality

Loads of low-skilled workers work much harder than most CEOs do.

Bit of a sweeping statement there, Josh.

If people want to live behind gates that's surely up to them.

This basically. Not seeing the connection at all :conf:

Obviously if people want to segregate themselves that's fine, but how does that mean inequality, generally, is good :conf:

I think it is more a question of feeling secure in an ever degenerating society and an increasingly dangerous world Liam, more than any desire to segregate themselves - much the same as to why most people erect fences, walls and gates around their individual properties. 'Open-Plan' living looks great as an architect's wash drawing, but the reality is; lawns marred by other peoples litter - including KFC and McD packaging and Fish and Chip wrappers - and soiled by other peoples dogs, and ignorant car drivers shining their headlights through your windows in the early hours as they use your drive to reverse in to turn around.

Oh, then there's the problem that anything not screwed down will disappear far more quickly.

Again.... if people want to live in a little fortress with a moat and they're not asking anyone else to pay for it, that's their business.

I admit, i would like a big mansion, a huge open crass field containing all kinds of cool things with electric fence covering around the perimeter, all in a secluded location.
