View Full Version : Holiday Ideas For December

So I've been told by my doctor that I should take a rest from work soon and book a holiday if possible. I'm planning on taking a holiday in December time, but I'm used to Summer holidays and going to Sunny places etc. Does anyone have any good ideas for a December holiday, whether through word of mouth or experience ? I'm most likely going with 3 other friends if that helps.

Thanks.

Switzerland :)

This was an idea I threw out to my friends, but it's APPARENTLY crazy expensive. :(

Florida! I couldn't think of anything worse than being in a in a hot/warm place for Christmas, but I would make an exception to spend it at Disney World

Prague. Very cheap, lots to see in the day, great nightlife.

I was there while it was snowing, made a lot of the views over the city even better

..do you want sunshine, Leon..?../one of the Canary Islands if you do...for a city thing in December I would say Amsterdam, it has a great vibe that time of year...

...Morocco I think might still be quite warm in December as well and isn't too expensive...

somewhere to see the aurora borealis would be a bit amazing really (but then idk if Sweden/Norway are super-expensive, I always hear they are a bit)

If you want Christmassy stuff you could try Poland or Bruges or Tenerife or Gran Canaria are your best bets for winter sun unless you wanna do the Carribean or somewher

Winter sun, Dubai or Egypt, City break, New York or Vegas, closer to home Paris maybe, depends what you like doing really

Do you ski BL? Andorra is quite cheap and really good for beginners. If you've got the cash, try one of the US resorts, Breckenridge and Steamboat, Colorado, are brilliant. Aspen is spectacular but really expensive. USA ski resorts are much better than European resorts for non-skiers and there're loads of other things you can do, hire a snow mobile, for example. If you're going for sunshine maybe Goa? It's good value and the locals are very friendly.

Poland, have a friend over there on holiday at the moment and it's costing him £300 for the week including travel, spending money and a 4* hotel. Cheap holiday and nice place.. Freezing though.

i would second the canaries but don't go during the christmas or new year days as the price rockets then. I've had many a beer in the first week of January with a day time temperature around 26/27.

It's still 30-35 degrees.

Breckenridge  Been there twice and by far the best place I've ever skied

On a budget though I reckon Bruges is a good shout. Can be done cheap as anything, plenty to see and there's a good scene there
