Humanity was wiped out and all that survived was single celled organisms, in a billion years time would we have humans again???

Maybe humans lived before on this planet before and were wiped out.

Maybe if humans were wiped out, in a billion years time there may be shark humans or rat humans.....just wondering....

The planet is much "older" than it was when current life was evolving. The various climate changes, little things like what chemicals (and in what ratios) are in the atmosphere etc. means it's very unlikely that humans just as we are now would be the result. The life that would evolve could be pretty much anything. There's no guarantee that sentient life would even evolve at all... might just be a planet of bugs, or fish.

This is what I was thinking. There are so many variables that led to us evolving the way we did that would have to be exactly the same, but they can't be because of environmental changes that occur over time. It's interesting to think what could evolve though. Shark Humans sound pretty interesting

It just blows my mind thinking what could be out there on different planets, and a tweak of chemicals/atmosphere/water to land ratio, could give rise to a completely different being, are we just a freak of nature?

Yeah this^

It would be interesting to see what would evolve now.

On different planets there are literally endless possibilities.

Gravity for instance could play a huge part on the size and shape of alien life.
Planets with conditions that we could not survive in,Say for instance sulphur clouds and sulphuric acid lakes could house extremophiles.

I do believe that one day life will be found on other planets, i just hope they leave that life on the planet they found it.

I fully believe that the universe is teaming with life.I am unsure if humans will ever find it though. The vastness of space is mind boggling. Our nearest star Alpha Centauri is 4.24 light years away.We can't even travel 1% of light speed and the chances are that even if we did make it to Alpha Centauri there would be nothing there.I don't think the human race will survive long enough to get anywhere near flying to planets outside of our solar system.

As you say...mind boggling:spin:

Maybe they'll find us:worry:

Or maybe it's lifes perfect plan for us to never find anything:wavey:

Maybe,If anything could travel at light speed and survive.Even if they could though...
Our galaxy The Milky Way is a small one and it is 100,000 light years across. We may be the only life in it.Even at light speed we could'nt leave it.Our next nearest galaxy is 2.5 million light years away.We would have to send an intellegent space ship out with human embryos on which could nurture them to life when a suitable planet was found.By then though human life on earth may be long gone.

Will there ever be a baby born that can swim faster than a shark
