What Is Slut Shaming? :

Slut-shaming is 'the act of criticising a woman
for her real or presumed sexual activity.'
It is the suggestion that a rape victim was
'asking for it' because she went out dressed
in a short skirt and stilettos.

If the rape victim was "asking for it" then they wouldn't scream "no" when you stick it inside them. Are rapists ****ing stupid or something?

I should be able to wear a skirt and not have to look over my shoulder when I go out. It doesn't make my nights out very fun.

Slut shaming is one of the worst forms of sexism, it should be eradicated, even the word slut and the likes of it are disgusting to me.

I think I'm one of the very few who think that if you're going to wear next to no clothes on a night out, you're much more likely to get attacked. Rapists are disgusting creatures and I think they should waste away in jail. I don't think that the women who get raped are 'asking for it' at all... but I think you're much more likely to get targeted when you're wearing clothes that reveal your buttcheeks/tits/whatever.

It's true you are, rapists see them as easier targets im guessing, but obviously it doesn't mean it's any more deserved than a woman who went out in full Amish attire

I don't like how it's commonly applied to females when males do the same thing!!! it's gross

In an ideal world women should be able to wear what they want without getting leered at,but it's not an ideal world and women should be aware certain items of clothing will attract more attention than others, some women know exactly what they are doing imo,but men really should be able to deal with it.

Slut shaming is terrible - mostly because if a man went out in his boxers nobody would be calling him a slut. It's just plain sexism really.

I 100% agree. Slut shaming is one of the worst forms of sexism, especially when a man can be promiscuous and not get shamed for it

It is very socially acceptable though, you see it all the time, people hardly even notice it.

In a perfect world women would be able to go out in whatever they wanted. But it isn't a perfect world, so women have to take responsibility for their own safety.

women can take precautions just like we all take extra precautions when we walk through a ghetto neighborhood, or when we fly on planes. but the point is that we shouldn't have to. we shouldn't have to lose our freedoms and peace of mind just because some people are assholes.

I don't agree with this at all, victim blaming is never acceptable.

No, no one should have to. However, if you don't take precautions for your own safety you can't claim that it's a rotten old world when it gets to court.

that's true. that's why i'm okay with going through a body scanner at the airport, and why i'm okay with metal detectors at sporting events.

it sucks that we have to do it, but i'd rather be safer.

That's your prerogative. I've chosen not to mark myself out as a potential victim. It's the same reason I have a house alarm and a lock on my car. No one should have to have locks an alarms... but they're needed.

If we had moe strict punishment for rapists, then it wouldn't be such a problem, but it seems it's almost impossible to convict a guy of rape, so 99/100 get away with it.

Agree. I can never understand why people moan about airport checks and security checks at events. I'm all for doing everything we can to be safe.

If only short skirted, low cleavage women/girls were raped then it would be so much simpler to avoid it.
I wonder just exactly what percentage of victims are actually dressed so called "asking for it".

['Hollaback movement': Ms Molloy has
stood up to street harrasers in
the past - writing that she
approached any guy who wolf-whistled
and asked, 'How do you think that
wolf whistle made me feel?']
